A 4th would come in very handy. QJ would give us production. This would come at the expense of others

I don't know if the need for offensive weapons disminishes, but fans tend to think players are static. They are what they are, and QJ is still in the period when most players are still improving. That is why rookie contracts are 4 or 5 years. Some take a bit longer than that.

QJ opponents correctly point out that he is not a dominant player who has taken that big step up. OK, true. But how about Alec Pierce finally stepped up when things came together in Indy. We have different issues, but for a long strider like QJ, he is particularly sensitive to the QB not having the time for him to get up to speed, with the poor pass protection.

There is no FA WR who is going to make an impact anywhere near what QJ is this season at the salary he is at. Maybe KLS or Harris will step up at WR, but it looks like we are looking for them to take Keenan's place. Getting rid of QJ means we have no depth, and two unproven WR around Ladd, which seems a lot like Harbaugh's 1st year with QJ developing. We were patient with QJ and are finally reaping some of the rewards, it seems like it might be wise to see it through a bit.

I am excited to see him in McDaniels O. QJ is the kind of downfield receiver who can really take advantage of the play action stuff that McDaniel lives off of. The biggest problem I think we have with QJ is he seems to fit really well as a power slot, flanker type of guy, but with Ladd doing a lot of good work in the slot, and KA doing so much good work, it has been hard to maximize QJ's ability. Plus the OL thing. And the lack of a running game thing.

I personally think he’s a bad WR that only gets productive stats due to high number of snaps and Herbert, and that any WR we elevate from the practice squad or off the waiver wire would do as well given the same number of snaps.

His route tree is more like a curved line. He’s terrible at comebacks, ins, outs, deep sideline, quick screens, catching in traffic, too many to list.
Yep...slants and crossers are about the only two branches on his route tree...

My logic is he was/is first round talent that put up near double digit tds the last 2 years. He has improved every year and is just hitting his productive years and he is CHEAP this year….why would we want to trade him for a 4th or 5th to create another hole in the O especially with our still unproven and developing depth in Harris and KLS? QJ is solid and cheap and ascending. McD may have some great ideas to use his strengtgs tgat poor ol Roman just wasnt able to id nor take advantage of. I truly think QJ is on the very good wr list right now. Trading him without something clearly better to replace AND we still have a Keenan sized hole to fulfill makes zero sense to me this year. Id tske his 5th year option and if things went great with the others maybe trade him next year when hes not as cheap. This is NOT the year to trade him unless you are getting a 2 with high value to git on a stud player….but i dont see it. Keep him and ride tye hell out of him.

'nother reason to hold onto QJ is that if our braintrust keeps using Harris as a blocking sled, think the injury bug is gonna get the best of him before too very long, and we will be very grateful to still have the trinity of Allen, McConk 'n Johnston available to the Golden God 'n McUltra....

the answer to what they do with QJ lies with Mike McDaniel, he's the one pulling the strings on these personnel decisions on offense, if QJ is on the block it's only because Mike wants something different...

If you trade him or otherwise give up on him your giving up on three years of solid development with progress made every year. He has done everything they asked him to do. Trading him sends a terrible message to the team as well.

can we please lay off Hortiz now? Joe is the ultimate team player, he might not agree with or like all the moves that McDaniel is doing but we are not going to hear shit about it...

Good point...let's keep him the year he's still under contract, then decide what to do...

I agree with you except we don’t know what price they’ve put on QJ’s head.

So if QJ doesn't get traded, we might not know if it was because Mike said don’t trade him or only trade him if it’s a (fill in the blank) rounder or better.
