Clary was already under contract. I do think if given the choice, Telesco would rather pay Vasquez Clary's salary, but that was not an option without cutting Clary and accelerating his prorated guarantees. Also, no guarantee Vasquez signs with the Chargers for the same amount he signs with Denver. Denver is an appealing place to play for the next year or two, and like it or not, there were going to be some significant unknowns in SD.

He definitely makes much more than he is worth at OG. I don't think he's kept at his current salary, but can see a way he's either extended or he takes a pay cut. He could MAYBE get a 3 year 9 mill deal on the open market. They can likely extend him and make those numbers work if he wants to stay with the team.

In fact it looks like Clary costs more against the capLast edited by oneinchpunch; 09-26-2013, 08:28 PM.Hashtag thepowderblues

From overthecap.com
Clary cap hit: 2013 = 5.7 m; 2014 = 6.25
Vasquez cap hit: 2013 = 3.25; 2014 = 7.25
So this year, Vasquez is cheaper, but next year Clary is cheaper in terms of salary and cap hit.
Vasquez's deal goes through 2016, and his cap numbers for those two years are; 6.25 and 6.75 respectively. I don't know if those are high for a guard, but I don't think they're cheap.
At least that's as far as I can figure. The reason why I teach English is because I can't do math.Last edited by RobH; 09-26-2013, 09:08 PM.
