Remember When I Said We Should Dangle Inman?

For a LB? Looks like we are at least looking to move him. Not sure what for. I mentioned an older Vet who could lead our young guys like Karlos Dansby...but maybe we can find someone with a little less years. I do think he has a couple years left in the tank though. And his football IQ is amazing. As well as his durability. Hes just a wise old man at the inside spot. Inman is most likely going to get a 2 million tag(2nd rounder) next year. But i doubt with Mike Williams we sign him long term. He has some value now for us. I dont mind getting a 2 year rental for Inman if it really helps us out on D or the OL. Or maybe even RB.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports the Chargers have had trade discussions involving WR Dontrelle Inman.

They're not going to get much for him, but it is an indication they intend on Travis Benjamin playing a bigger 2017 role with Keenan Allen moving inside and outside and Tyrell Williams as the RAC/vertical threat on the perimeter. Inman is a trusty slot receiver who originally went undrafted out of Virginia and is signed only through 2017. He would fetch a late-round pick at best.

I'd take a solid backup OL over a draft pick.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

With how terrible our depth is i just want a solid depth guy or even an aging vet starter.

I wonder if this means they are feeling more optimistic about Mike Williams return.

          Twitterverse seems to think so.

Or, if we kept him for a year and let him walk, we'd probably get a 7th round comp pick.

I want help now. Unless its a 4th rounder. I dont want a 7th for Inman. We developed him. Hes worth more than that.

With the lack of durability at WR, id like to keep him but i would rather get a player for him than a late round pick.

Agreed. His ability to step in for Allen is huge IMO, but I also don't want him to walk for nada. If i had a gun to my head, I would say ride it out at least until M Williams situation is more clear. I haven't seen enough from the other guys to warrant thinning the WR position. I understand the rationale, but I really don't trust Allen to stay healthy. Perhaps someone has consistently looked good in that role all camp, thus making him more expendable.

Moving Inman would be stupid but in line with how this FO likes to sabotage their team. Allen hasn't played a full season yet in his career. What makes them feel he will this year? Travis Benjamin hasn't shown much since he arrived. Tyrell Williams still drops balls and runs the wrong routes. People who think Mike Williams will play significant downs this year are kidding themselves. Burse is playing hurt already and hasn't shown squat as a WR. So if either Allen or Tyrell goes down who's left? Inman can play all the WR positions. Tyrell and TB are Y and Z WR's as neither can play Allen's X position. If Allen goes down again and Inman is gone, there will be no passing game and Rivers will once again be passing to a bunch of no names. Inman is a very good posession WR. The kind Rivers needs when he needs a quick passing game because of a suspect oline.

Trading Inman makes no sense. They should be trading TB instead.

I like it if you can get something for him. He got 810 yards last year. I'd want a 3rd, or a decent o-lineman, or a good linebacker (either coverage, or middle). Someone like Josh Sitton last year. He was cut due to cap reasons. There should be someone out there who is still decent, but maybe not the best value.

Reality: Inman is currently injured and has not played all preseason and practiced sporadically. He is a good WR, but nothing spectacular. A complementary guy. Teams know there is a log jam at WR on the Chargers and may just wait it out. Chargers are only likely to get a 6-7 round pick for him with chance it becomes a 5th based on his play. Not going to get a 4th round pick or starting or decent back up lineman. But I guess we can dream.

Bears are WR desperate but Inman is not a #1. Also Browns could use a guy like him to help the young promising and raw WR they have. Two potential trade partners.

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.
