I was thinking that the other day. He was a complete stud from Game 1.

I don't consider Mathews a Pro Bowler.

If he stays healthy, I think he can have a decent year.

So, what does Matthews need to do in your mind to earn a small extention next offseason?
For me its,

A. Stay healthy for 16 regular season games.
B. 1000+ Rushing yards 300+ recieving yards. 6+TD's 4+ YPC 4 or less fumbles in 16 games.
C. Not lose carries to any other RB on 1st and second down.
D. Grow up a little bit!

Muffews needs to do everything you mentioned and I think you're being a little generous with him on the fumbles you would allow him. I would add that he has to impress the new coaching staff with his mental approach and work ethic. This regime is not tied to him so he's going to have to earn his way into their good favor.

Mathews days are numbered. So much unused talent.

I'm bummed that we had to release Fozzy Whittaker due to all the injuries to the OL, and of course we need him now. Ronnie Brown no longer has any burst and we are beginning to see how Woodhead cannot be used as a 3-down RB but more as a change of pace and utility player. Hopefully we can find a bigger guy who is a tough runner with some hands, and they really need to use McClain more often as well.

Fozzy was a scrub. If we're worried about cutting the 4th/5th RB with a low ceiling- we should have just kept Brinkley.

What is his trade value, if he isn't part of the future and we are definitley rebuiding we mine as well get something for him instead of nothing.
