You can see on the replay that Novak hit his plant and his foot kept going,tearing up the turf. It doesn't hurt any less, but at least you know that Novak did his job right, and it was a freak thing. My recollection with Keading is that he just plain missed.

As a chargers fan, if I don't try and watch and listen and figure out why we lose these things, I just end up being an emotional wreck. To me, some of the over-analysis helps to remove the extra emotion that doesn't help. I imagine a lot of coaches and GM use a similar defense mechanism.
