That guy had it all figured out.
Phil's "next door neighbor."
Two miles away, with a swamp in between.
I am sure they talk a lot.
Maybe the wives talk too.We do not play modern football.

Let's see in 2015, we had:
1) Rivers contemplating retirement because of his back injuries.
2) Rivers retiring because he didn't want to move to LA.
3) Rivers demanding a trade to Tennessee to be closer to Alabama.
4) The Chargers FO willing to trade Rivers to the Titans in exchange for the 2nd overall pick and a shot at drafting Marcus Mariota.
I would say that these current 2019 rumors are tame compared to what happened in the past.

It's harder to gauge this year how much Rivers will get because the last two contract extensions have happened almost immediately after Eli had signed his extension. I'm not sure how much of a discount the Chargers are going to get.
This is how much 40 year old Brees signed last May (and Rivers is 3 years younger):
The New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees have agreed to a two-year deal worth $50 million, reports NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
Brees will receive $27 million in guaranteed money and will include a no-trade clause, according to reports.

Russell's deal has not been updated yet.
Contracts size is often about the timing. The top guys contracts are always going up, especially the QB.
The current going rate is between $25-30 mill per season. If you want to pay less per season, you have to give up more in guaranteed money. Teams may be a bit more squeamish with that given the Alex Smith situation. Some of it will be up to Rivers and how much money is he willing to leave on the table. Brees is giving NO a home town discount to try and win a championship, and he is getting $25 million per.
But like I said, Rivers may have to give serious consideration as to how much money he wants to leave on the table, since there are so many key players who contracts are coming due. We only have 29 players right now under contract for 2020. That gives us 22 players we would have to sign just to fill out the roster, giving us an effective cap space of $74 mill/ Bosa, Rivers, Eckler, Pouncey, Melvin Gordon and Hunter Henry are all FA, as well as our lower priced guys in Phillips and Derek Watt.Attached Files

great thread/posting peoples, and.... thinkin' 'tis 'bout a zero percent chance that PR is concerned 'bout losing his roster spot/starting role to Joshy Josh nor Tyrod, and....
Rosen 4 60 is a hellah good deal if it ever came 2b.
also think that one year of Hollywood Park will be more than enough for a 40 year old w/close to half that many kids running around.... (agree, she/they could use him/an assist there).
would also query as to if indeed Sam is Aok @RT, does that mean we're in the market for a developmental tackle/center then ?? (rinser & repeat ?5/11 Fuaga, 37 Kamari Lassiter, 40 Sinnott, 67 Bralen Trice, 69 Cedric Gray, 105 Jaylen Wright, 110 Braelon Allen, 140 Joe Milton, 181 Khristian Boyd, Tylan Grable, 225 Daijun Edwards, 253 Miyan Williams

This here isn't very favorable for those who want or expect us to draft a QB high in this year's weak QB draft. Also not favorable for a QB when the GM has said he wants to hit a home run in the first round. Don't sound like the HR is going to be a QB.
