we should be so lucky if he lands on the ps instead of taking up a roster spot....

he may be better than the likes of Jonas Mouton or a Courtney Van Buren, but don't think he holds a candle to the likes of Tony Brown nor D'Juan Hines.

and have to chuckle as if he's the "competition" @RT, think AL's quote/retort that we're set @RT and that they like Tevi, could well be the understatement of the year @this point.

also apparently when we're talking 300 somethin' w/this guy, it's not his weight, but his slotting....

and disappointed we didn't nab Cajuste, as suspect the reason we passed on him is that his run blocking leaves a lot to be desired ??

would also volunteer that JJ is a rotational DT and atm Nwosu is prolly best suited/most helpful as a backup LEO ??

and Pro Bowl/replacing Russell.... not this millennium.

He is a reach, at a position of need. Instead of reaching for a below avg player from a big name school that we would all know, the Chargers went with what their scouts told them and reached for a talented kid from a no name school. Apparently, Pipkins has some ability that the others don't and never will have (cannot really coach foot speed, for instance). Don't forget, the scouts actually work these players out (in person), meet them, talk to their coaches, watch all the film, etc. For instance, the USC kid is good for at least 2 holding calls a game. The WVA kid's future may very well be at guard, etc.
Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

Preach it, i would have much rather taken Cajuste or even bobby evans "kick him inside to guard". Alot of pwople are gonna look back n go wtf.

I would really like to see justin jones in the rotation, but also would love to see ingram, joey, tillery, nwosu packages, could make our nascar package better.

Tomorrow we gotta hit hard, get some players who can challenge people. Iron sharpens iron, bring in some dogs and let them compete.

I have no doubt that if we got mack wilson and he could study under Davis and perryman for 1 year, he would probably surpass Perryman.

Also really need a cornerback, would love isiah johnson. We have to draft atleast 1 corner. No telling if casey falls off this year. And no telling if Trevor will be able to be brought back next year.

whats wrong if Cajuste is a guard tho?? He would replace Feeney which everyone agrees is terrible so far, lamp would be at the other guard spot.with tevi at right tackle. So if lamp is an improvement over schofield. And Cajuste is even a slight upgrade over Feeney our oline would automatically be better. We onky got so long left with rivers. Need to draft to win.

TPeople said the same when the Saints took Terron Armstead in the 3rd about how big a reach it was.

he is drafted to groom to take over for Okung. LT are getting harder to find these days as almost all of them have never put their hand in the dirt in college and play in a spread/pro offence. It is why the bust rate has gone way up for LT and especially very highly drafted LTs. My guess is the Chargers think this kid has special feet and athleticism and showed it in the EW shrine practices and game with a big step up in competition. Strength can be added easily. Great feet and athleticism can not.

i would hazard a guess that the chargers have so many guys left with similar grades (as I said the 2-4 rd grades are deep in this draft) that they could make sure they get this kid early and still get similar graded guys to what was on the board in the third in rds 4+.

LT and even RT are very important positions to fill. We cant forget we are the 28th spot....not top 10. Our pick is darned near a 4th rounder. The kid looks like he has the physical traits but is a diamond in the rough that will need some polishing to get looking good. I see few OT that come out fully ready to start anyway unless they are top 10 material and even then they tend to struggle. For a borderline 4th at a top position to fill AND a position of need he looks like he has the potential to addlong term and maybe even rotation value for this team. He WILL play this year...guaranteed. Get him experience and let him grow. At least he doesnt have injury issues from what ive seen....just needs polishing. Low ridk high reward type pick IMO. Im ok with it to try to fill a very important position. He stood up well at the Senior Bowl so trust that he may just be a gem worth a borderline 4th.

Im ok with the pick. At that LT position it will be a few years till he starts if Okung lasts physically so thats ok to invest for a key role. He may get a chance in rotation and due to injury but hopefully getting 8 games in plus training camp helps get him ready for spot duty at this level. He wont be a starter immediately but he is there to develop.

I don't know about that. I don't like Bobby Evans. The guy can't move very well and looks like a guard to me. All the complaining isn't going to change anything.

I'll trust the coaches over those complaining about somebody they know nothing about.
There were a lot of surprise picks in this draft. Hoping for the best is all we can do.

Nothing wrong unless you really need a tackle. And if we need a guard why not draft one with experience at the postion?

My guess...is the Chargers are not drafting Pipkins in bottom of rd 3 if they gave him a 5th or 6th rd grade.

Chargers supposedly had 15-18 players with 1st rd grades. How many were 2nd rd grades? Maybe its 20-25 players. 3rd rd? Maybe 25-30 players.

Could be Chargers board only had for rds1-3. A total of 75 players.

Adderly was he a 2nd rd grade?
Perhaps he was 3rd rd grade and all the 2nd rd graded were gone and they took their top 3rd guy.

Maybe the same thing with Pipkins.
They had 4th rd grade, but he was their top prospect at #91. Because all 75 prospects rated 3rd and above were gone.

Pipkins has the typical profile for the position.
Chargers clearly think he just needs the weight room and nfl coaching and practice to unlock the potential.
Telesco track record on getting the potential out of o-line drafted players has not been great.
I say they are due to hit eventually. Hopefully Pipkins will be that guy.

Who has it better than us?
