When exactly will he contribute? If Rivers and Clemons both go down, so does the season. He can contribute just fine from the practice squad all year without taking up a spot that could help on ST's or during a week when we are nursing injuries.

And they didn't cut him then because they were able to put players on IR.

Sorensen isn't necessarily being groomed to start in SD but he could eventually fetch something decent in a trade (remember whitehurst?) that is worth more than a scrap heap lineman

CBJ was a 3rd round pick. BIG difference.

Everyone can just read this. I'm done debating.

Matt Cassell is the most notable 7th round pick. Good luck with that.

            Playoff % for 7th round QB's - 0% (0-3).

Brady is the reason the 6th round QB's are skewed.

Pretty much anyone drafted outside the 2nd round is a long shot to even make it to the playoffs.

Not really. You think Seattle made that trade because he was drafted in the third round? Cleo Lemon was undrafted and didn't play in a single game yet a team still traded a draft pick and a player for him

Matt Hasselbeck was a 6th and Green Bay got a first from Seattle for him. Ryan Fitzpatrick was a 7th. In no way am a tooting a horn for Sorenson. Just saying you never know.

Sorenson will never see the field in a Charger uniform while Rivers is on the team (which I expect to be another 4-5 years).

We got AJ Feeley and a 6th rounder for Cleo Lemon. Go ahead and hang on to that if you wish.

Hasselbeck and Fitz both saw the field to establish some trade value. That won't be the case with the Chargers. Either way, holding on to a 7th round pick in the hope that we may one day be able to trade him for a pick is well...

You were making a better argument that he may eventually be a backup in his 4th year when Clemons contract is up.

McCoy has a reputation now when it comes to QBs. If he thinks he's good enough to keep, then he's good enough to trade. Teams will be interested if Sorensen has a good preseason.

Here are five observations from the early days of camp:

                          1. Soft-tissue injuries are expected: Last year, there was an average of about one ACL tear per day in the first 15 days of league-wide camp practices. The major injury problem hasn't gone away. San Francisco 49ers running back Kendall Hunter blew out an ACL on Friday. Since the start of camps, there have been four season-ending Achilles tendon tears: Indianapolis Colts halfback Vick Ballard, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Aaron Ross, New England Patriots wide receiver Greg Orton and Houston Texans guard Cody White. Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts and Carolina Panthers halfback Jonathan Stewart are out with hamstring injuries. Going from the post-OTA summer break to the start of training camp can be a shock to a body. Sad to say this, but expect 10 or 11 more major injuries over the next week and a half.
I know you have to get guys in shape, but it makes sense to me to go easier in the beginning of camp and increase the intensity as time passes.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                          The Wasted Decade is done.
                          Build Back Better.
