1350 yards and 8 TD's from a WR wouldn't have helped at all. Nope, not one bit.

Wide receiver is the least important position on offense or defense. Why the Chargers spent that money on those players, I don't know. We needed linemen. We still need linemen.

Vincent Jackson was one of my least favorite players, maybe just one step ahead of Shaun Phillips. Neither of those guys demonstrated a desire to win.

Yeah it would, if he had done it for us last year. He didn't and simply placing his stats on top of ours last year is so intellectually lazy as to be laughable. Really dude, that was weak.

Vincent Jackson would have never had those kind of numbers with our team last year.

Making him play for a tender taking advantage of the situation was a bitch move by AJ.
Too soon after multiple F-ups by VJ to give him a long term deal.

VJ played a large part in why VJ isn't a Charger

for the "Rivers never had time in the pocket blah blah blah long developing pass plays suck" crowd, would Vj been able to produce those stats here last year...his 19.2 ypc from 72 receptions clearly shows he was used as a long ball, long developing pass play wr in Tampa

Pretty much just as lazy as your initial assessment that VJ's contributions wouldn't have helped at all.

Still would of been much better than anything Meachum, Royal, McClain gave us combined last season and we wouldn't be talking about cutting him 1 season into his extension.

That's a fair point. They should of traded him if they didn't believe in him. He walked and we got stuck with nothing. Not even a comp pick. Fact remains AJ took advantage of the uncapped year and screwed him and the team in retrospect. It became a lose lose situation with how he handled it.

I just don't see how he helps us much last year. He has always been a downfield threat and we really couldn't throw the ball downfield much last year given our poor oline.

Maybe teams can't blitz as much because they actually have to cover a WR. That's just 1 variable. Maybe we can't resign Gaither because of the dollars we gave VJ? Man that would have been the best case scenario. Anyone would have been an improvement, literally. Maybe VJ catches that TD vs. the Browns and we win that game. There's a ton of different things that could have happened.

When it boils down to it though, it would have been money well spent regardless of what else happened because he was a productive player in our system. The dollars we gave Meachum, Royal, and McClain were completely worthless. Meachum couldn't even beat out a street FA in DX. We were picking up guys off the street last season at WR. It was that bad.

Not to mention add VJ to our current WR corps over Meachum/Royal.

Especially since Rivers was either on his back or on roller skates all season long. We could have had Bambi, Jerry Rice and VJ on our team... it wouldnt of mattered imo. If the QB is getting destroyed most of the time, the pass catching talent is moot.

FOOTBALL STARTS AND ENDS IN THE TRENCHES.... The opposition will attack your weakness. Our 2012 wekness was quite obvious to any casual observer.

How about not signing Jackson, Meachum, or Royal.
