Saw him play there. He was mediocre. Saw him in Cleveland too when we beat them and he got benched for Mayfield. Seeing is better than looking at his stats.
What exactly about his stats do you like so much?
The Bills were a game over. 500 with a good defense with him as the starter.

Why wouldn't Tyrod sign somewhere to be a starter instead of signing to sit behind Rivers?

Maybe because there wasn't anyone wanting to sign him as a starter? But we should"see if he is the future" at 30 years old 9 years in the league?

I know the answer. He is a good backup to have!

Your are just a fan ranting is all.

It's not for you to decide what he wants and needs.

They can sign him for 2 years with an easy out for year two or Phil can retire.

Name a team that has done what? Why sign him for 2 more years? You want two more years of this? I wasn’t planning to ask Phil what he wants. The going rate for a starting QB is $30M, what you are expecting for a discount?

This is extremely short sighted. Brees was always a great game manager and smart but he had a noodle for an arm. After his shoulder reconstruction he even admitted he gained arm strength. He was a different player after he left and good for him, but to pretend he was the same player when he played for the chargers is disingenuous.

Anyway, Rivers will be a charger as long as he wants to be. If he wants to play another season he plays another season. He has said he wants to play in the new stadium next year, he will likely stay next year. We may very well draft a QB but they will sit behind Rivers.

9-7 isn't going to get the Chargers into the playoffs.

              The Bills are 7-3
The Raiders are 6-4 with a win over the Chargers
              The Colts are 6-5
The Steelers are 5-5 with a win over the Chargers
The Titans are 5-5 with a win over the Chargers

The Raiders have the easiest remaining schedule left in the AFC, starting with the Jets today. There is no way a 9-7 Chargers team is going to squeak in.

No man, the 2 years is to cut his cap hit in half and the second year is for having an out if he continues to suck or he can just retire. This isn't rocket science.

And name a team that has hired a retired QB just to mentor a rookie coming in. That's what a QB coach is for.

So no matter who our drafted QB will be, he will be mentored by a QB coach.....which was Stitch or some other QB coach or it can be Rivers who....really, which would you rather have mentor the rookie?
Keep in mind that Brian Shottenniemer was once our QB coach.

I'd much rather have Rivers do it as the rest of the league does it that way.

There is always a chance. However, if 9 - 7 gets them in (& they somehow win the wild card game) , they will just be a sacrificial lamb placed on the alter at Gillette Stadium.

I couldn't bear watching the ritual slaughter and the approving roar of the Patriot crowd.

The year before they drafted Rivers, Brees was bad. He choked game after game in the 2nd half. Thats why they drafted Rivers. Then with Rivers being groomed Brees suddenly played better. Alas he blew out his shoulder the last game, and wouldn’t sign an incentive deal with anyone. NO was the only team in the league that offered him a big contract, and he took it.

And right then he had his famous vision that his destiny was to rebuild NO from the flood. Uh-huh. Weird how a huge guaranteed contract gives a guy visions.

Guessing Taylor us our starting QB in 2020, with a round 1 rook (Hurts?) sitting behind him and Stick still hanging around. Use the $$ and rest of the draft to fix, well, everything.

                          LAC can win AFCW.
                          Less unlikely than AFCWC.
