Nope...which is baffling...just about all Riverboat Rivers's throws were downfield...

i read give riverboat 2 more seconds and he'd complete the pass?! TWO WHOLE seconds more?! That is like setting up lunch back there in the NFL. In the NFL most of the time they gotta get rid of the ball by 2.5 seconds. there's no way the D was getting to him in 1/2 second...maybe 1.5 seconds. gotta stop excusing rivers for his piss-poor play. he wasnt all to blame but he was a MAJOR reason why they lost. the oline was atrocious and scott has NO business being a tackle. I watched him try to punch his guy and miss so many times, and once he misses he's TOO DAMN SLOW to get back into any kind of position to block. maybe he needs to absorb the defender instead of trying to go for the offensive...you're pass-blocking, not run-blocking. imagine if that was Bosa opposite of him with the way Bosa uses his hands so well?!!!

With 2.5 or more seconds to throw, Rivers was 9/21 for 159 yards. 1TD & 3INTs.

31 attempts, plus he was sacked. So too many snaps under pressure right away. He certainly could use better o line.

But some days are rough days. On the 21 attempts he needed to be a little better. Especially that final drive.
PR was 17/31 so that means he went 8 for 10 with under 2.5 sec to throw?

that don't seem right at all.

He missed every pass on the last drive. except for like two plays, he had about 2.5 sec or less. that's 7 inc's right there.

If Riverboat would have looked for the short open man, at least some of those 7 passes on the last drive could have been completed...

He was 17/31 and had 207yd.
            9/21 for 159yd 1TD & 3INT
            8/10 for 48yd 1TD

            9 completions for 159yds.
Holding the ball going for bigger chunks.
            By design and/or decision.

            8 completions for 48yds.
Getting it out quickly for short gains.
            By design and/or decision.

Rivers threw 7 passes over 20yds downfield.
            1/7 2INT

He threw zero passes at or behind the line of scrimmage.

On very short passes 1 to 6yd downfield.
            11/14 1TD.

On intermediate 7 to 19yd downfield.
            5/10 1TD 1INT

            Carr who was 21/31 218 1TD
9 passes at or behind the line of scrimmage.
6/9. And his only TD pass was 1yd.
Carr only attempted 7 passes 10yds or more downfield. He was 3/7.
            9yd or less downfield. 18/24.

Rivers was pushing the ball. Risky.
            Carr was game managing. Safe.

I like that Rivers pushes the ball.
When he is in the zone. He gets to his underneath routes and stacks completion together. 10, 15, 25 straight completions.
Behind this o line he has not found that rythym.
            But he is capable.

He probably needes to game manage all year because the team is struggling around him.
But Rivers isn't a game manager, he is a baller. He is going to take shots.

Yep. And the long ball is Riverboat's Achilles heel. It's an oxymoron. Why go long, when you need to hold onto the rock longer? And why hold onto the rock longer with our pitiful O-line? Doesn't make sense.

Does those stats list time from snap to throw?

I only really rewatched the last drive and he heaved it downfield, but time to pass didn't seem to correlate with where he was passing.

They never had to really blitz the whole game and got pressure. The 22 view wasn't up yet on gamebpass, but I wonder if it will show the Raiders keying on the short and intermediate routes. Idk.

one thing is for certain, he was terribly inaccurate and had pressure. Bad combo. Ugg. I hate the Raiders.

                  In the end..

the Chargers put themselves in a hole with all the crappy losses and bad play earlier.

No crime to lose to Oakland, in Oakland, with no James, Phillips, Okung, Pouncey, Lamp & even Tevi missing (given how crappy Scott is).

It would have been nice to have Trevor Williams this year.

tranquill had 14 tackles....starting linebackers is the last of their needs.

He hasn't thrown a good long ball all year - as far as i can remember. We had this discussion during the final Norv Turner season (with that craptastic offensive line): Rivers was off on the deep ball all year. I went back and looked at each long throw that season, comparing it to his previous seasons. His footwork was noticeably different from the years before. I wouldn't be surprised, given the state of the Oline, if the same thing has happened this year.

                      OAKLAND RAIDERS

Derek Carr didn’t push the ball down the field much against the Chargers, as most of his targets went to running backs and tight end Darren Waller instead of the Raiders’ wide receivers. Alec Ingold had a very productive second quarter, as he had a tackle on a punt return, converted a key fourth down on a fullback dive and then caught a flare pass out of the backfield for a touchdown.

Josh Jacobs continued to generate yards on his own by making tacklers miss both as a rusher and a receiver. Jacobs saved his best for last as his final run of the night resulted in an 18-yard go-ahead touchdown for the Raiders.

Erik Harris had a career day against Los Angeles. He officially recorded two interceptions, including a pick-six, in the contest and had a third interception in the red zone that was called back due to a questionable offsides penalty. LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

Melvin Ingram slid inside of Gabe Jackson and got a first-quarter sack of Carr that forced a field goal attempt. Ingram also batted down a third-quarter pass. Ingram added a second sack when he beat Kolton Miller outside in the third quarter.

Uchenna Nwosu grabbed a fourth-quarter sack after getting by Gabe Jackson on a stunt. Michael Davis had a nice breakup of a pass intended for Waller in the fourth-quarter.

While Melvin Gordon turned in a strong performance on the ground, poor showings from Philip Rivers and Dan Feeney cost the Chargers the game. Rivers missed more throws than we’ve come to expect from the veteran signal-caller, and Feeney was a punching bag for Raiders’ P.J. Hall all game long.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

He has had lots of good deep balls this year, including one to TB that would have one a game for us. That isn't his problem, it's the half a dozen forced passes that have hurt us.
