Chargers were 1 - 0 & leading Detroit when Phillips broke his arm.
After losing to Detroit, they lost 4 out of their next 5 games (and the Miami win shouldn't count).

He's not breaking the bank and i'd be stunned if he isn't resigned.

The difference in most NFL games isn't much. So, yes!

They seemed to do well with him last year, and the year before - when Bradley was forced to put him in and they suddenly started winning.

Your opinion of Phillips is higher than mine is all I can say. He made the pro bowl as a special teams player, not a defensive player.

Phillips isn't really a safety for us. He is more a dime cover LB type for us. Tranquill has more speed than Phillips and is bigger but if they want to play Tranquill more at MLB or OLB if Brown is let go then I guess we keep Phillips.

I would guess Tranquil will be more of the mike linebacker, White will go back to will,...so Phillips would replace White on passing downs. Phillips is a coach on the field type...they'd want him in on passing downs and big moments.

The above would be the ONLY players worth considering. We only have 2 WR's worth keeping, so we need a 3, 4, 5 and all 3 should be 4.3, 4.4 guys..... no more having rosters full of 4.6 WR's like we have now......

Our OL needs an entire rebuild.........

We need a real run stuffing DT to go with Ingram, Bosa, and Tillery....

We need 2 new real LBers to play with Davis....

We need a shut down CB.....

We need James and Adderley to come back fully healthy so they can form the top safety tandem in NFL....

We need 2 big bruising RB's to rotate with Ekler and jackson......

With a real NFL OL, Rivers will be the same great accurate QB he has been his whole career..... This year he knew how bad the OL was and knew hw had to huck the ball in less than 2 seconds every play or he was going to get killed, fumble, etc..... so the decision who to throw to had to be made pre snap........ which defenses know........ so they know how to play us.....

Look at the horrible QB play in all the other games...... the NFL is really going to suck once Rivers, Brady, Big ben, Rodgers, are gone......we have to extend Rivers..... .

Not sure where you are getting he is a coach on the field. He is a dime, sometimes nickel player depending the the defensive plan, not a starter. He is replaceable. It's just our depth right now isn't good enough to do that.

Yes Jatavis' play has been predominantly poor, but he does have that speed.

The issue has been durability, which may have been a large factor in his play.
