Finally had a chance and went thru about 75% of the passing plays and I gotta say, to my eye, they had good protection and maintained depth at times. #17 plays best when the Offensive Line can provide depth....but imo the biggest factor was the Jags had major issues covering some of the shorter routes or when EK or Gordon were used as scat protection - they were open.
I did notice two incomplete passes where I suspect PR got rid of it/throw away because he felt the pressure getting there, but didn't quite get there. I am positive there is some trust issues - although I honestly think there's oline improvement.
Against the Vikings, I doubt some of those completions will be there. They will generate pressure (which Jags did to an extent) but will sit on those short routes. Running game has to get going for the bolts offense to be effective - need the PA.
Defensively, they have their work cut out. Minnesota can run the ball and Cousins doesn't take a lot of chances. Hes pretty efficient. Very low TD to INT ratio.
Patience and field position will be the key. If both teams play well, I see it as a very evenly matched game.
Key match ups :
A) Chargers Pass pro vs Vikings front 4
B) Chargers defending the run. ie keeping Vikings out of 3rd and short.
