Forget about that because we’re not getting new owners.

after that, do things the old fashion way, build the lines. Games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. In our case, lost. Don’t overthink this, just do it.

Then bring in a coaching staff that can compete with Andy Reid and Co.

and always keep an eye out for your qb of the future.

    1. If/when Lynn gets the axe next year, it will be because the Oline was not fixed. The next head coach will not inherit a good one.

    2. Coaching staffs play a big role in shaping the Oline: the rookies Lynn will bring in will fit his system - whatever that may be.
They might not fit this Andy Reid types blocking schemes.

    3. Might as well bring in the qb. You can attract a top level head coach if there exists a franchise quarterback waiting for you.

Letting Tyrod playout his contract for the year and then leave, leaves us with only one crap year. If they try and land Cam, they're still going to have to pay him a bunch, and it could mess us up for a while beyond depending on how much they overpay him. If they are going to get the QB of the future in this draft to trot out for publicity photos with the new stadium, I hope they either let Tyrod play or bring back Rivers for one final hurrah while the kid sits so they don't wreck the QB of the future right away as well.
The only way we only waste one year, is if we are able to trade up for Burrow who is a traditional big pro style QB with extreme accuracy short or deep and has mobility to buy time, extend plays etc......and playing a pro style offense means he should be able to [play 10-15 plus years.....

Tua looks like a very good player if Chargers believe that having a shorter more mobile QB running the read option college style offense is the way to win championships and to play for a long time? I dont. I dont want the chargers to think they can build a raven type of read option running QB offense...... those types of QB's cant play very long, so a team would have top draft a new pome every few years.... plus defenses will eventually adjust and learn how to defend them...... Hurts is the same kind oof player, so we need to stay away from those.....

If Chargers sign a scrub QB like Newton(who with his me me selfish attitude would fit in perfectly in self loving LA).......Dalton, or any other would mean many more years of mediocrity......

Since its obvious Spanos does not want to pay Rivers(or anyone) current insane QB money...... and that probably had something to do with not wanting to put a good OL around him(having a bad OL made Rivers look a lot worse than he is so it makes it easier to justify to fans that we were getting rid of him)......

Before Chargers got rid of Seau and Harrison, Marty changed their usage from almost pure in the box dominating players to assigning them deep coverage duties, so fans would not see their usual impact they made playing close to LOS......made fans think they could not play anymore, .... which made it easier to cut them and their big salaries...... we all see the multiple;tiple SB rings they got playing for and having an impact for patriots......

Even media dose not mention how bad the Charger OL is, yet all during Chargers-raiders game, the announces kept saying how injured the poor raiders were, but zero mention that Chargers are playing with a 3rd string LT and backup type players everywhere else???? If Rivers had an OL, he could be a winner for one or 2 more years..... I dont see him playing much more than that.... Rivers has a coaching life waiting for him......

Even if we were to keep Rivers somehow for a year or 2, we are drafting high enough to draft a QB or trade for one, and this year there happens to be a special QB available who is worth trading multiple picks for...... Burrow is the real deal.......he has everything you look for in a long term franchise QB.......unfortunley CIN needs a QB....... but maybe they are not smart enough to see the difference between Burrow and Tua, Hurts, or the oregon QB so they would be willing to trade? ........ unfortunately there will be multiple teams wanting to trade up: Chargers, Patriots, Raiders, Miami, Jax, Indy, TB, CHI, DET, NO, ......maybe others......

Winning fixes everything. Chargers are let’s say 4-12 under McCoy why would anyone in SD still show up? There’s the beach, balboa, gas lamp, etc.. and IMO Los Angeles is much more of a tourist place than San Diego so bet opposing team fans will circle LA as the trip they’d make over SD. Plus, if we were consistently 12+ wins the years prior to the stadium voting, it would have went differently probably. Wasn’t the result 54% in favor?

true..... BUT if we are to rebuild, then we need to do it right for the first time in Spanos era......

Start with the right HC, and give him full control and a GM that will build the kind of team he needs. Once you have a great new HC, and staff then they can decide which QB truly fits what they want to do..... lets stop hiring cheap coaches and forcing them to accept the rest of existing coaching staff and keeping existing players.......

Peyton chose Brees and designed the perfect offense to take advantage of what Brees does best and avoids things he does not do well...... Reid knew his system needed lots of team speed and a mobile
QB so he acquired Smith and then grabbed mahomes...... both very mobile QB's who can extend plays allowing fast receivers to get wide open creating lots of easy throws for the QB's......

Chargers need a HC who wants to haver BOTH an aggressive run stuffing, ball hawking defense and an aggressive high scoring offense...... that can run or throw the ball well...... then draft players to accomplish that....

We are not going to pay rivers $30 million a year. If you do that you might as well apply that to the oline and draft a qb at this point. If we had a quality oline we could do everything we did this year and more even without rivers. Hell, I would actually rather have Trubisky from the bears as he has been continuously harassed in the pocket with little help from his oline. Trade the hapless bears a second rounder and get him cheap.I'd rather spend $40 million across the entire team than spend it on Rivers and Melvin Gordon.

Taylor is under contract so if our QB of the future wasn't ready or needed to sit a bit, Taylor is here. My point was the team ceiling with Taylor at QB is between 7 to 9 wins max. Newton has been physically broken for 2 years and is still under contract so we'd have to give up draft picks to get him and then extend him - yuk. Resign Rivers and fix the oline or draft our QB of the future and fix the line.
