Darnold had a great year, but they're going to need to be sure it wasn't fluke before they trade the QB that they wanted so badly that they were willing to trade to #1 picks to move up to get him...I'll be very surprised if the move happens in 2025...
Lots of QB's have had serious knee injuries and have come back to be just fine - they're not running backs. I don't think his injury will give teams too much pause. The cap hit is an issue, but that could be mitigated internally if they're clever. How will they feel if they pass on 2 #1's plus a handful of lesser picks, only to find a year later that he's worth a 4th rounder? This is a very real risk.

How much return did we get for JC Jackson? High end FA's are very risky . . . . . . . . . . I don't think either JH wants to play in that pool.

sounds like you're really high on the 2026 QB draft class, who are you looking at right now?

$110mil sitting on IR. No bueno.
          1) Cut Becton, Boz(ret), Dissly, DD, Fisk, and Dupree
          2) Re-sign Tart, Hand (4m), Phillips (5m)
          3) Sign the ERFA's Williams, Patterson, and Vidal (3m).

Who knows - Manning maybe, if he plays well and elects to comes out. There always seems to be 2 or 3 guys every year that we never heard of that elevate themselves to elite status within the college ranks during the course of the season. This year is so bad though - IMO there's not a starting caliber QB in the entire draft (but what do I know)? IMO Bo Nix is better than any college QB available in the 2025 draft - that's how bad this year's crop is . . . . . . . . . . . Makes McCarthy look great by comparison.

I had McCarthy really high, but I had 5 QBs going back to back and then 6 in the first 10 picks...

IMO this is the kind of contract that hamstrings a team for a long time. Not as bad as Watson's contract (epically bad management there), but bad enough . . . . . . . . IDL have a propensity to get injured frequently . . . . . . . . . . even a sprained ankle can render your 110m man an average player.

I very much prefer our Ford / Tart combo vs an injured Wilkins . . . . .

I'm very much NOT a draft guru. What are your thoughts on Sanders and Ward? In my (uneducated) opinion I don't think either guy's skill set translates to the NFL well, and they're both little (by NFL QB standards). I don't see a future for either as a starter, let alone an above average or elite QB.

I like have Ward ahead of Sanders but not crazy about either and there's not much behind them so I see your logic an McCarthy probably being like a #1 overall in this draft if he'd stayed in school but damn, I wouldn't pull the trigger until after his dead cap hit dropped and I got to see Darnold do it one more season before I decided to give Sam the franchise QB type cash...

Mike Will had a nice sideline catch for the Steelers vs. the Bengals...still has some gas left in the tank...when he isn't in the shop for repairs...

                        It's a difficult decision. I guess this is why NFL GM's get paid the big bucks . . . . . . . . . .

Mike Williams is THE perfect receiver for Wilson . . . . . . . . just throw it up and let him outfight the DB's or perform his sideline magic.
