Telesco. Good person. I like him as a human.
As a GM:
- Never hired a successful Head Coach
- Very few (any?) free agent acquisitions that paid off
- For all the accolades, kind of hit and miss on the draft, although the lack of a competent coaching staff may have impacted the success of the draft picks
- No division titles, few playoff appearances, even fewer playoff wins
- Drafted an elite QB
- Found some pretty good UDFAs
He was hired after Antonio's Piercings. It felt like an after thought. I think it still is. I think if a coveted HC (coveted by fruit bowl haircut) wants more control Telesco is out.
TGLike, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

TG
But the record is the record -- and end of the day, no divisions, a couple wild card wins, thats the record

Rumors floating around that teams are calling MINN about McCarthy.
Teams know MINN only have 3 picks in the upcoming draft. A 1st and 2 5ths. Not good.
TENN has fired and hired 2 HC’s and 2 GM’s in 3 years.
They are rumored to be willing to just give the 1st pick to MINN for McCarthy straight up and that MINN could then trade down the pick to get draft capital.

TGOriginally posted by Bolt4Knob View PostI think Telesco seemed like a good person. Meaning his moral and ethical compasses were pointed correctly. I think he honestly worked hard and did the best for the team. I think he tried

Staley had two winning seasons in the three he was head coach, Lynn two of four. Both were first-time head coaches (Lynn had been interim HC in Buff for one game).
These records are not egregiously bad. There have been much worse first time head coaches. Matt Eberflus for example, a first time head coach who was fired this season after 2.75 seasons. His record was 46-14.
Staley and Lynn were not terrible failures, they just were not good enough, given the talent on the Chargers teams they coached.
One thing Staley accomplished that Harbaugh did not - he went into KC and beat the Chiefs in his first season. That was the last time the Chargers beat the Chiefs, I believe.
Telesco's teams never won a division title, that is a knock against him. Even with 12 wins in 2018 the Chargers were bested by the Chiefs by an obscure tie-breaker.
I'm certainly not pining for a return of the Telesco days and Lynn and Staley as head coaches. But let's give all three of them a fair assessment.

And I wish Staley, Visor McCoy, Lynn well. Telesco - well he is on the Raiders - so not much
But just glad the team has Hortiz and Harbaugh thats for sure

There have definitely been worse coaches and worse first time coaches, but it's not like either was working with Josh Rosen out there.

He never built a consistent OL
The defenses were inconsistent
Running game was bottom 25% in the NFL over his 11 years
and no team speed
Not sure where he goes after getting canned by the Raiders - might just take a year off
