Fulton IDK if we keep him. He may get a better offer as well. We wont get shit for Scott.

    So who we got....

    Samuel
    Palmer
    Apple
    Bozeman
    Hurst
    Dye...we may keep him too
    Chark
    Maye
    Perryman
    Stick
    Sarell is a RFA
    Neiman
    Jefferson
    Jaimes
    Fehoko
    Fox

Who there gets a contract that brings us something after we sign a few ourselves? Bolded is my best guess and three at least will get cancelled out...which id guess is Samuel, Palmer, Chark. Maybe Mack signs elsewhere but sounds like he wants to stay. Maybe Fox gets a decent deal.

Hopefully SF trades for Bosa with Gus and his brother there, but im not counting on it.
you have us keeping more guys than I do...I hope we keep Mack that's the big one for me, then either Ford or Tart, I don't think both but that would be really nice...then Molden and Dobbins would be my next guys...so for me the core group that they bring back is Mack, one of the two DTs, Molden, and Dobbins...and it sounds like Bozeman might be back too...I don't know about the rest of those guys but I trust that Hortiz will find similar players to them this offseason in post draft free agency, guys that are going to play on one year deals and are still drawing salary from former teams etc...

what happened last year was not an aberration, it was just a taste of how Joe Hortiz is going to operate year in and year out, so don't get too attached to lower level depth pieces and one year fill in prove it starters, he'll keep the ones that hit on reasonable deals but he is not going to overpay for them, let other teams over pay and we get the comps the following year, rinse and repeat...

      WTF Tucker???

Ravens kicker Justin Tucker has been accused by seven more women of sexually inappropriate misconduct at high-end spas, bringing the total to 16, according to a Baltimore Banner report.

First, good luck beating the chiefs, ravens, eagles with lower level depth pieces and players on one year prove it deals unless you absolutely nail the draft year in and year out. Free agency and trades can be used strategically and wisely to augment your roster. I saw that team with lower priced free agents and they got smoked by the Texans in the playoffs. The bar needs to be much higher.

Second, players do not draw salaries from other teams if they are released unless they have guaranteed contracts. They might have dead cap hits - but that money was already paid.

Lastly, we have no clue what Hortiz will do based on his body of work, one year, when he took over a team 50m over the cap and he wanted to level set the cap. Just like this year, if he spends a lot will not be indicative of his future plans. I think he will use free agency wisely, still using the draft to build the roster and where applicable, will play the comp pick game. And yes, Hortiz will sign players post draft , heck even a few days into free agency for the Vet Minimum as that is what teams do. Looking at rosters, my guess the median salary is like $1.4m or something. I will have to do some research or maybe reach out to JasonOTC to see what that answer is.

              Great points.

This off season for Hortiz is not the same as last off season. It will be interesting to see how he navigates it. I think he will always be fiscally responsible, build through the draft, and not blow the cap for the future, but he also knows this team did not beat any top teams last year and has to close the gap to be a real contender. That will take some money.

I like the intangibles and leadership Mack brings as much as the next guy but not at any price. I have been reading there might be a competitive market and I read one forecast that a team might step up and give him 3 years at 70 million. That is not attractive to me personally for a 33 year old with declining sack production. Its ok to move off veterans when it makes sense and bring in some younger guys, bring in some juice.

                  Mack made 19m last year
What did he do that would show he deserves a raise on an AAV basis

I think something in the 17-20m range for one year makes sense. If he wants more, go to Detroit or Washington

What I read, trying to remember where, was that there is not a lot of options at edge in FA. This is Macks first ever time with the freedom of UFA and there will be significant interest. It wasnt a firm prediction, more of a dont be shocked if a team values the package Mack brings and pays him over 20 million and more than 1 year. That is less interesting to me, prefer one year.

Maybe Mack will go ona year to year basis, but he is human. UFA freedom for the first time and a contending team comes to him with an agressive offer, like all players, his loyalty to LA will be tested.

The one FA Edge id sign is Malcolm Koonce. Shouldnt break the bank , is young coming off a good year but then tore his ACL before last season.

Mack famously dished out dinners for teammates weekly in 2024 as a proactive team builder.

Recent history of older Edge has been a mixed bag. Watt was good in AZ - but injured. And he might be more DE or DT than true Edge. Chandler Jones with the Raiders, not good and I think the mental health. Von Miller - that contract did not work out. Second half of 2024 from a sack standpoint much less than the first half.

I think the Chargers should be open to other options if the dollars are similar.
