Anybody know what if any kind of insurance policies exist for possible career ending injuries like Dell? Just curious.

My guess is that the texans are on the hook for his remaining contract which shouldn't be huge plus they usually make it so the player has equivalency to 3 years NFL contract so they receive benefits from the entire NFL franchise system.Originally posted by Boltdiehard View PostAnybody know what if any kind of insurance policies exist for possible career ending injuries like Dell? this is a career ending injury, if he was an O-lineman I might think that he would be able to play again, but a WR that relies on cutting and speed to make a living? he's done, I hope he get's the rest of his rookie deal and also that he has been saving some of his money...Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

his only hope is that he somehow qualifies for his NFL pension, so Houston needs to keep him on their IR all of next year, if I'm not mistaken he needs 3 years of service credit to qualify for NFL pension, the double benefit of that is that he'd still get his regular salary next year too, then he would need to understand that the money coming in is the last year that he'll make that type of of money, after that his pension will pay him around 7k-10k a month for the rest of his life depending on how they calculate his injured credit for the last year of service...if he plays his cards right he would still be set for life but a lot of these kids are already saddle with huge amounts of debt even before they enter the NFLOriginally posted by sonorajim View Post
