After watching the tape I can see why they like him. So if they have him as the 5th best WR in the draft what are you gonna do? Maybe they could have moved down to middle of second round and get some more draft capital but then what? Your risking not getting YOUR GUY. We took Tre Harris mid second round and this guy looks just as good or better NFL prospect.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post
Niners catching a lot of flag for reaching on Stribling. One of their reports asked Lynch why he keeps reaching every year lol

82-67
Two Super Bowl appearances
Same division as Rams - who have been consistently good in that same period of time with Snead and McVay
Seahawks have been pretty good with Schneider and Carroll and now McDonald
Cardinals are the Cardinals
I think the media needs to look at the overall body of work and say for the most part - it is working in San Fran. I mean, the Chargers haven't been two two Super Bowls since 2017. Maybe Lynch can do better for a pick here or there but Kyle is in the room too.

The 49ers have an excellent coaching staff, and Lynch has done pretty well in the mid-to-late rounds of the drafts he's been in charge. He obviously gets a lot of heat for the trade up for Trey Lance, which was actually Shanahan's fault. Shanahan pushed for that deal early in the draft evaluation process because he initially wanted Mac Jones, but then he fell in love with Trey Lance's athleticism. They made up for it with the Brock Purdy pick in the seventh round, though.Originally posted by Bolt4Knob View Post

It's funny to listen to some praise the Raiders right now and slam successful organizations like the 49ers and Rams, just because the Raiders just made popular picks that the "experts" love. The Raiders have been doing that for the last handful of years, and it's gotten them nowhere. Now I guess it's supposedly changed for the better in that organization because Tom Brady is there. Never mind that Brady was a huge reason why last season was such a disaster, forcing Pete Carroll to hire coaches he didn't want and sign Geno Smith when he didn't want him in his new job. I guess Klint Kubiak and Fernando Mendoza are supposed to be the saviors of that organization. We'll shall see, but I doubt it.

Jeremiah,... for example had him as #62. Other sites I suppose had him lower as well and they took him @33. First pick in round 2.
He wasn't on my radar so didn't pay attention to his tape.
However,....Lynch has not been drafting great and they only had 3 picks and his first pick( Stribbling) was by most a reach.
He also stupidly resigned Aiyuk than Aiyuk went AWOL

Stribling was rising above early draft rankings. Some were really talking him up as the draft neared. That said i did not see him being 33, first pick of the 2nd round.Originally posted by Boltjolt View Post

One of my friends at work is going to be very upset when I see him tomorrow, he wanted a Guard really really bad in round one, he was smitten with Chase Bisontis and I was thinking about him when the niners kept trading down, I was thinking, damn they're getting all this capital and they're still going to get Bisontis, LOL!Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post

Based on those highlights, he looks really good ... early 2nd ....not a bad pick by the 49ers. They did move down to get him.Originally posted by gzubeck View Post

49ers really did not have a good draft, one of the lower ones. Not as bad as Jacksonville but not very goodOriginally posted by Fouts2herbert View Post

You are measuring the draft with a Dane Brugler yard-stick, and/or relative to big-board consensus. We both like both, but the 49ers and Jags don't care a shit about either. Nor do the Rams who spit into the face of "consensus".Originally posted by CanadianBoltFan View Post49ers really did not have a good draft, one of the lower ones. In no way, shape or form can a draft class be "graded" until games are played, and players suit up.Last edited by YAC; 04-26-2026, 10:56 PM.Driving the Nadame Tucker bus.

Yes but we can use common sense. Gladstone tried to show he is too smart and too cute for anything resembling consensus and made some questionable picks. A draft full of bizarre reaches stating with a blocking TE overdrafted in the 2nd round who was in no ones top 100.Originally posted by YAC View Post

It ok for someone like Les Snead to go against consensus. It is not ok for someone like James Gladstone to pretend he is Les Snead.
The only starter that will emerge from this lot is Pregnon, who was his best pick at 88, though clearly Pregnon was not as coveted as we thought and has some issues in his game

YAC if you think consensus means absolutely nothing..then you take a good look at the Browns draft and the Jaguars draft. We will compare notes at the end of the season and discuss which draft the better NFL players emerged from.
