The Rams are definitely all in! If they win a SB, it will be worth it. If they don’t, they will be hurting in years to come. They are already in cap hell with no high draft picks for years.. it’s a risky gamble

Beckham has screwed the Giants and Browns for the last few years now. What a deal for the Rams to get another mercenary (Von Miller) and go for the ring this year, and the SB is in SoFi.
The idiot can go to the highest bidder next year and be a cancer for another team with a bad GM.

I have learned "cap hell" - well, maybe not a myth, but its a talking point for why some teams (Bengals, Chargers Colts) operate the cap more conservatively than other teams (Chiefs, Rams and Saints).

I looked - the Chargers today (and this will change)- but today have more cap space than the Rams Seahawks, Saints, Chiefs, Patriots and Packers have for 2022. Actually they have 6m more - today.

I bring that up as all of those teams were interested in Odell Beckham Jr - and the Chargers were not

So cap space is BS. If you want to make it work, you can

And I am good with what the Rams are doing -- they are trying to win TODAY. Not some BS long term plan where we have to keep Day 3 draft picks to draft the next Zach Thomas - or "thats how we do it, we build through the draft"

Trust me, you will be happy the Chargers had no interest in Beckham.

Its not about whether the Chargers had interest in Beckham or not - its about an attitude of "are you trying to win?"
It seems that Telesco and Staley are - playing for next year
When the Fish beat the Ravens - the AFC is wide the hell open - why would they want to wait until next year

My guess if say Herbert got hurt two weeks ago and the Chargers needed a QB - they would NOT have called Cam Newton and some on this forum would have been saying "he's not as good; his arm is shot, he is a locker room cancer - lets just go with Chase Daniels and punt the season"

its just an attitude. Rams are saying F it - lets go win the damn thing; Carolina is a game from the WC - what the hell, lets go get Newton as DArnold sucks but we have a chance.

I agree. We can barely feed KA and MW. I bet you the moment you stop feeding OBJ he’ll start complaining and take off plays. No thanks

I hear you. I also question the wisdom of not going all in, of having a plan where you make your Super Bowl run the next year, or the next year, instead of now. Someone posted on this board a video of an analyst for PFF in which he said the Chargers' brass won't go all in until Herbert is in his third year. That is what teams do, they don't go all in and build their roster for a Super Bowl run until a rookie QB's third season. I didn't get it. Why not go "all in" every season to try to win the Super Bowl? That is the goal every year isn't it? As you point out, the AFC is wide open, the Chargers are a young team with a new coach. Despite the growing pains, the team is 5-3. They could be playing really well going into the post season - why not give the team every opportunity possible to win the Super Bowl this year? Where you and I disagree is that adding Beckham would help the team achieve that goal. I think it would be the opposite, because I think he is a cancer. I was hoping they would add veteran OL help so Storm could go back to being a back up, a DL who was capable of making the run defense better, and a veteran RB behind Ekeler. But the brass is content to go with the team as it is, apparently comfortable with their plan not to try to win the SB this year. I really don't know if that's true, it just seems that way sometimes.

You want everyone that is a free agent. You moan and groan every time some other team signs a guy you wanted the Chargers to sign. You fail to see that the Chargers do have a plan. Do you really think that signing OBJ would have led them to a SB win this year? Really?

I didn't want OBJ for red flag character issues, but I DID want Justin Houston...

Does anyone seriously think that OBJ is the key to a superbowl victory by the Rams? That team is so loaded at WR that DeSean Jackson just asked for his release a week or two ago. Did everyone forget that? And since when does a WR get you to the superbowl? And unless he is such a terrible person and teammate that he was faking, OBJ is a very limited player right now. He claim(ed) he has two torn labrums in his shoulders! And he has attention and focus lapses when he is not the focal of the offense (you all saw him drop an easy 4th down catch against us and that has been the hallmark of today's OBJ, not the superlative catch he made for a td with Eli). I am so very glad our team did not sign him. His only value is NEXT year as a compensatory pick when he leaves.

Last thought on the Rams...while for fans and fantasy football nerds and Madden players this looks like a great addition and a great team, think about reality for a second. Yes, some players on that team, like Ramsey who is a superstar and confident in his role, love it. But the majority of the roster has got to be like....what the heck? Why are we bringing in this jerk when I have been busting my butt all season and off season. Think Robert Woods, a really good WR who just got shafted. Even Joe Johnson who now plays for Browns and knows both the Rams and OBJ is really questioning this move.

                        TG

Like, how am I a traitor? Your team are traitors.

Winning is an attitude, an expectation. Some teams have it, some don’t. And looking at the Chargers record with TT, we don’t have it. Because we’re always “good enough” to get by. We don’t go the extra mile to get more and better players to help us win now.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
                          Let’s win one for Mack.
