I dont hate Staley but when a quality veteran superbowl winning coach becomes available And with Fangio too?If we end up one and done and or blown the hell out in the post season Im on the Payton train.If we show we are a well coached team deserving of our spot in the POs and ready to Finally become winners then I have no problem staying with BS.

You said if they get bounced early from the playoffs, you’d want them to fire Staley and hire Payton, is that the part you mean? Have you really studied Payton’s playoffs record closely? Except for the SB year, he was bounced in the first or second game every other time NO made the playoffs. He went to the NFC conf championship 3 times in 15 years, only advanced once to the SB (‘09).

He didn’t make the playoffs at all in ‘07, ‘08, ‘12, ‘14, ‘15, ‘16.

Payton is a good coach, he is not the messiah and he is not a guaranteed anything. Staley got his MASH-unit team to 10 wins, he’s 2023 coach without doubt.

I saw what you wrote and the point of my response was that regardless of balls, brains or cash the current coach is trending way up and it makes no sense to replace him. Nothing cherry picked about that.

I think payton would be a big mistake at this point, losing draft picks for one is a deal breaker for me, staley is still improving and he’s had very precise plan for ow he’s building this team, his input on personnel decisions has improved our drafts and FA signings considerably the last two offseasons…with this early entry into the playoffs and holding the team together thru massive injury spell has earned him another year easy in my book…last yeah didn’t hesitate to fix STs situation in the offseason, I think he might do the same with the offense this offseason…
