And I might have been wrong about Hefner.
After a little bit of a check on my part, it is quite possible that he was the Jeffrey Epstein of his era.
At least Epstein didn't try to pass that type of behavior off as sophisticated.

I had heard from a Hollywood friend who knew people, years ago, that Hefner was into gay porn.

Jim Brown was a great athlete and football player. He was bigger than many of the offensive or defensive lineman he played against in that era of the NFL and he could run like a deer or a bulldozer, depending on what was needed. He was simply dominant and unstoppable and he left the game when he was on top.

Jim Brown was not a great human. There are numerous allegations of him abusing different women, including his one time fiancee who was found apparently thrown off the balcony of his apartment after being beaten. He was convicted and actually served a little (very little?) time for one of the instances of domestic abuse. And he abused women in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. Maybe he got too old to do it in the latter decades, who knows. It was all in the news at the time. You younger guys can google it.

Someone dying does not make them a saint, even if they were famous. And I believe when you get judged, being the one time leading rusher in the history of the NFL ain't gonna count for much.

I don't want to minimize or excuse any of his bad behavior but imagine the violence he saw himself growing up.
based on what we now know about generational trauma, it must have been super traumatic for him.
willing to bet he likely saw women get beat regularly.

You explained it much better than I did, thanks. I was in college in the 80s, and lots of things were going on even then. I apologize to anyone I offended with very rude disparaging comments about the young lady. I don’t actually know her, I was wrong doing that.

But what i would say is I’d sign Matt in a second if I was running the team. If the standard for player conduct is they can not have had sex with a girl while in college - I think we just lost over half the league. Why put that standard only on him?

Exactly let’s look at this. NFL teams like to just cut punters right away. But if the player helps they don’t give a fuck. Players have been kept on teams and signed if they can help a team win.

Jameis Winston. What the fuck happened at Florida State then the Uber driver. This guy if anything doesn’t give a fuck about women and will grope if he wants to.
