Trey Sermon now available. On paper 49ers and Dolphins had the deepest (not best) backfields and 1 guy had to go.

      To replace Kelley?
oh man, that would be quite a statement.

Wonder why he was let go by the Niners? They know how to run the ball so they must have some good depth at RB for the Niners

yep, Kelley to the PS or just rotate them off and on the IL so nobody can poach one, and pound the fucking rock every week to open up the pass......as the great Anthony Lynn would say LOL

Was watching one of the afternoon football shows (live?) and they said the jets lead the NFL in players claimed off of waivers with 7!!!

when I think jets I don’t think super deep roster with too much talent so how is this possible? Did the jets make bad personnel decisions and release guys that they should’ve kept? It’s so weird, the jets had seven players claimed, that seems like an absurd amount!

                here’s an article about it

I think a lot of guys who were good prospects signed with the Jets. They knew they had a chance to not only make a roster, but possibly be named a starter. They had access to a lot of good prospects, maybe even 1st pick of some of them(UDFA and street FA).

But it also means that as a team, the Jets really missing starting caliber guys. You can call it depth if you want, but if you don't have good players at the top, then the mountain of so-so guys really doesn't matter. I recall plenty of years the Chargers could be considered "deep" in that we had 4 OG or 4 OT who were more or less interchangeable. But that really meant we had 4 backups and no quality players at the position.

For the Jets, their DE group is a pretty good example. Carl Lawson, John Franklin-Myers, Jermaine Johnson, Jacob Martin, Bryce Huff, Micheal Clemons & Vinny Curry. Any of those guys are solid names to have on a roster. But 6 guys on that list who would be better as 3rd/4th DE types, and 1 first-round pick (26th pick), who I liked, but was a 1-year wonder in college and more of a run defender than elite pass rusher. I like him and think he will be fine once he develops. but I would have liked to see him be a 3rd DE who could rotate in and get some playing time, more than an every-down starter. Carl Lawson is a good player, but I would rather see him as a 3rd DE or pass rush specialist. Vinny Curry was a quality starter for Philly for a while, but that was a few years ago. John Franklin-Myers is a solid guy, but I don't think he is ever going to be more than a solid starter, and will probably never be a great pass rusher. I would be fine with him more as a run-down player who slides inside or rotates with a situational rusher.

The Jets only have 2 players who are starters from 2020 and prior drafts. One is Quennin Williams, who is excellent. The other is their punter (Braden Mann). The rest are either out of football or a backup or injured (or both). A lot of the players who are gone were because of scheme fit, which is OK to a point, but it means there is a lot of roster building to do.

And it is not like waiver wire pickups are going to just jump into the starting lineup. Most of them will be fringe roster guys, whether they are on the jets or someone else. They are just good prospects, not good players (yet).

Didn't set the market, Rodgers is still highest paid.

$245 million with $165 million guaranteed for Wilson - they sure better hope he doesn't play like he has the past 2 years.
