I’m ok with keeping Brando for this season. Signing a FA like M. Pierce. He is a young, stout, biggin that won’t break the bank and could platoon for this season. Draft a guy like Marlon Davidson, who can play SDE, DT3, LEO, in round 2 to add physicality and more passrush. Tillery and J. Jones another year of development at DT.

The plan is you take his cap hit of 4.5m and add a couple million and find a better player in free agency. If you want to wait to release him until you sign a guy, thats fine. But there are MUCH better players out there than what will be the 2020 version of Brandon Mebane.

I will seriously question Telesco if he brings back Mebane, Last year via twitter in convo with Eric Williams and he burst my bubble when he "not so fasted me" on both Mebane and Benjamin. He was right. Telesco cannot be that dumb again

Pouncey - has not been cleared to play. The best I do for Pouncey is knock his min salary down to the veterans minimum and if he healthy, incentives can be made but on March 18th - I want your cap space

Virgil Green - this is a tough one, he doesn't count much cap space, $2.7m but can you find better

Okung - if he truly is not on board, have to move on. You cannot have 13m of cap space on a guy when FA starts and hope

All of these players are 30 or over - these are the decisions that need to be made

Okung is the guy to keep if he is on board - you need OT. I think based on what I saw of last years play and how they will be in 2020 -they can get better players for the same dollars they are currently counting on the cap (and thats all that matters)

Releasing Green, Pouncey Davis and Mebane would save $17.45m against the cap - I think Tom Telesco could find better players for that money this offseason. I truly do. As it is Scott Q is already on the roster for Center so you may not need that. Virgil at 2.7m - maybe you keep him as tough to find somebody better for under 2m probably. So that really leaves 15m for DT and LB. With 15m Tommy should be able to get TWO really good players at LB and DT.

Agree on all of the above except maybe Green...I think we need TWO OT's either in draft, or one in draft and one FA...and I want a SOLID FA, are u listening TT, Mr. Coupon King...not something u pick up from the bottom of the FA dumpster...

not sure, just as long as the answer isn't Mebane. in 2018 he was done. 2019 he looked more done. 2020 will not be an improvement. If his "locker room" mentoring is so valuable, which I doubt as none of the youngsters showed rapid growth, hire him as an assistant to the assistant so he doesn't count against the cap.

Ask me on March 17 when players have been released, not re-signed with other teams, etc. This is Telesco Lynn, Bradley and Giff Smiths job to identify players available and if they are better than Mebane. My guess, there will be players better than Mebane the Chargers can sign.
