LOL! Brown does far more than replace Mebane.
Mebane played limited snaps and was dominated by OL in at least half of them in 2019. Brandon projects as a backup to Jones currently.
There are 3rd-4th rd DTs this year who could replace what Mebane does in plays.
Brown is a major upgrade who would make our DL one of the NFL's best units.

Ravens put the franchise on Judon - might make Pierce a decent option. Granted, probably got to take 8-10m per year to get it done. But you release Mebane + Pounceys health = enough cap space to sign Pierce.

I doubt Pierce get more than $6-$7 yearly. He is a rotational tackle that is going to see 400-600 snaps. He only got about 300 in 2019 for the crows. I love to have Pierce in our DT roatation.

Some players always will get overpaid. Other players after the initial wave - which used to be 2-3 days and now is 2-3 hours with the early talking period - might find value. Again, I am challenging Telesco to work with coaches and find the right fit for the team and scheme. Maybe you get a bargain, maybe you pay Pierce 8.25m instead of 7m as he is the right player. Unlike the NBA - teams can always find cap space so you might have to overpay for the RIGHT player. I don't want Telesco signing a bunch of free agents to loos busy. But say he brings back Ekeler, Henry and Schofield, releases Mebane, Davis and Pouncey with the injury - if he is than able to still get OL and IDL or LB in free agency, that might be a solid free agent class.

(I am sure Telesco talks to his coaches but sometimes it doesn't show it!)


I have no idea if this guy is a fit with the scheme Lynn and Campen want to run but the cost is pretty darn good. I would be all about giving up a decent pick for Turner - IF he is the right fit. If he is not the right fit for the Chargers- pass. If not, flip first round picks; and maybe add a 4th round pick. IF the right FIT!

DJ Reader from the Texans is a guy I'm surprised isn't getting more attention. He has improved every year. He hasn't racked up many sacks but he has really improved at getting pressure and being more then just a run stuffer.

I’m not a proponent of resigning Schofield but there are 31 other teams, not all will hit FA, and most are no better if not worse than Mike.

Agreed. Thats why I am bringing Scho back -- have to pick your players wisely. Thats why I made the comment NFL is not like the NBA with cap space. Every team in the NFL is a player in free agency if they TRULY want to be. Granted, do you want to be the Saints who keep kicking the Brees can - well with that QB - you are probably wise. But the Chargers, I think can get a couple good prized free agents especially if they release the right players and deem a rotation of Scott Q and Feeney at Center the right players to replace Pouncey (as his injury is not cleared so that would be 5m of cap space when you have the replacements on the roster).
