Reports that Steelers GM Colbert does not give endorsement to Ben Rothlisberger about coming back next season.

I just want to say as much as some of us didnt like that Telesco and the team let Rivers go after the 2019 eason, it was great timing.

Not only did we get a QB from a pretty decent QB class, but we got the right one and now it seems a lot of teams will be scrambling to get a QB this offseason with all these vets possibly shuffling around In a down cap space year.

Something we dont need to be in competition with as we are now set.

Someone said it very well: Tom Brady spends his off-season taking phenomenal care of of his body. Whereas, Ben likes to drink beer & golf. I think the Steelers have got to move on. Chargers & Rivers managed to side-step a nasty scene when they divorced. Difference is, Ben has his own radio show as a bully pulpit.

On the bright-side for Charger fans, the Steelers will remain toothless as long as Ben remains.

Even players are tweeting about this market.

Chase Edmunds says to look for one year bargain contracts creating super teams.

Herbert is on his rookie contract and has performed at unprecedented levels so early.

We can build a decent Oline in a hurry, simply because some journeymen Olinemen WILL sign.

It gives somebody like Pipkins another year to develop.

Karras/Villanueva on a one year deal anyone, or a second year option ?

Nutty, this is what I've been trying to get at with you.

The windshield was shattered by Ben's head. No helmet.

Why not try and get Karras at four years and maybe a little cheaper deal because of the cap situation, if that is possible.
Teams like Jax with cap space and no state income tax will have a big advantage and Urban being a first time HC will maybe want to spend because he has never been around a cap before.

Villanueva is a 1 year deal kinda guy.

              Agreed.
And there have to be better examples.
This powerful thing called market forces is in play.
Maybe the TV contract will normalize the cap a little.
              Who knows ?

If you're an elite athlete, playing a violent sport, never knowing when a devastating injury might end your limited earning potential... why would you sign a cheap, short-term contract?
You know every player and agent is asking that question right now.
Teams willing to sign players for 3 and 4-year deals right now will have the advantage.
We have 4 more years of a relatively cheap QB contract. Take advantage of that, please... I beg you!

It's hard to believe that a cap-rich team (like Miami) would ever let their top players (Karas) hit the free market.
New England (Andrews/Thuney) is in the same position (healthy cap).

Miami has two first round picks and two second round picks. They can get another OC easily if they don't want to pay Karras.
They have the cap to pay him,... just saying. And if they let Karras hit the market, who is to say he resigns with them?

He may like another situation better. The only thing better at Miami is taxes. Just saying it's possible.

I would argue that one reason Khalil Mack is not now on a Super Bowl contending Raider team,
is that they chose to sign Rodney Hudson to an expensive contract.

They did have journeyman Stefen Wisniewski at the time.

Rodney Hudson was a great FA signing,
                    but the question is,
was this the right move ?

                    Now comes Corey Linsley.

Fins only have about $20 in CAP.
They have 3/4 young (25/younger) OC on their roster currently.

My thoughts on the 2021 oline.....

                      Draft pick - Matt Feiler (1 yr/$4.5) - Ted Karras (4 yr/$42) - Germaine Ifedi (2yr/$10) - Bryan Bulaga

Pipkins, Norton, St. Louis, QBerry, Toner, and 2 draft picks fighting it out for the 4 backup spots on the 53.
Fill in with a Post Draft/TC vet cut if needed.

Think we have the same philosophy just different players to accomplish the task.

The Fins have $35.5 million in cap space and only 1 significant FA to re-sign (Karas). They will F-tag at the very least. Not sure they would let a proven, solid center walk when they have a young QB to develop.
