Yep. Not sure why this is even in question since nobody will take him.

Maybe someone thinks he can be the NO receiver not the SD receiver of last year. If he returns to what he was like in NO, he's worth 5 mill with no signing bonus.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

No, because now he is damaged good. If he had come in and pulled a Boston, (solid production but a head case) then maybe. But once you do something wrong that hurts your production, it kills the negotiations. They will harp on what he has done wrong. Not that they would be entertaining the idea of bringing him in if they didn't believe he could play up to his old form, just they won't acknowledge it.

We are also hurt by having depth at WR. Some team will be willing to try to rehab Meachem, but why give up one of their precious draft picks? They can afford to wait a bit, see what we do. But they won't give up anything but a late round flyer, or some other damaged player.

This could all change if NO has a rash of injuries at WR. He could go back to them and step right back into their O, with their coaches, and it would be fine. But a starting Saints WR will have to tear and ACL or something.

Can we get our old trainers jobs with NO?

I don't think any team would give up a draft pick for him. I think they'd demand to be given a draft pick in return for taking him (and his salary).

I think if a team was desperate (injury) and we were willing to take a chunk of his salary, so they didn't have to pay it all, then maybe someone would part with a conditional 6th or 7th round pick. But the condition will be based on playing time/production, so there is a chance we get nothing, except some cap relief.

But at this point, you're right, I don't think anyone will trade anything useful. We would have to wait for an injury to have any shot, and probably not even then.

all this talk is just silly. The guy had 1 bad year, with not all of the events keeping him from producing being his own fault. The current staff said clean slate for everyone. MM and Wiz are highly respected offensive minds and will do their best to get Meacham going this year- and I am not throwing in the towel on that effort before we even see a single game. You don't cut or trade a guy in these circumstances and the contract is the least of the reasons.

Don't forget that the offensive genious installed a half assed read and react into the WRs curriculum. Had to make learning the O much more difficult. Even for a vet.

I can't see any team trading for Meachem or the Chargers cutting him.

The point is that the guy is not showing his worth versus his contract, he is not even starting, nor is he even top 3 or top 4. You have a rookie 3rd round pick that is projected higher than him. I don't think anyone is saying the guy sucks, but his production versus his cost is what gives the indication of his value, and at this point he is not worth keeping if a deal can be worked out.
MM and Wiz will get him going as a 5th Reciever not a 1st, not a 2nd, nor a 3rd but a 4th at best. And you do trade a guy under these circumstances IF you can get something for him.
                      1. Floyd -could be released or traded
                      2. Alexander -injury prone
                      3. Brown -potential star
                      4. Allen -potential
                      5. Royal -slot
                      6. Meachem -black hole with potential

$10.625 to cut him. So that obviously wont happen.

                        Trade him:

A team would have to be willing to take on his 3 year 16.5mil salary. And his 5mil guaranteed of that. After what he showed last season no team would take that on

totally disagree. Performing up to his contract is subjective and irrelavent after 1 season under NOrv. The FA market determined the value of the contract. NOrv was on his last gasp last year and stubbornley stuck to his tired offense without adapting it at all for players that weren't exact immediate fits. Meacham had NO control over his playing time and could not make Rivers stop overthrowing him, etc. It was a single down year by someone widely thought to be an ascending player. You can "project" all you want right now on starters and depth chart- but its all speculation until games start and we really see what guys can do in McCoy and Wiz's new offense.
