Justin Herbert vs Jordan Love

I've got this weird feeling it's going to be hurts in the later rounds.

He fits the type of offense that Lynn wants to run.

He's tough too. Not like the China doll Tua.

He would be a good choice.

The way he plays is closest to is Russel Wilson. Doesn't seem to be tall so has to move a bit for passing lanes.

Herbert has poor pocket presence, poor instincts & improvisational ability, plays nervous, and has inconsistent accuracy. He's more of a workout warrior type. Looks the part and has a strong arm but falls apart when things break down. His arm strength and overall build/athleticism is what excites people. He's basically a Trubisky/Josh Allen type of QB but he doesn't have the athleticism either of those have.

Love has a lot more of the things that can't be coached. Natural feel vs the pocket and the rush and always keeps his eyes downfield. He's also good at throwing on the run. He will take some chances but he has more upside and doesn't play scared. He should be the better NFL QB by a pretty good margin.

I would prefer Tua but wouldn't be at all upset with Love. Just don't see it with Herbert.

Love makes more big time throws, into tighter windows, to far less talent than any of the “top 5” QB prospects. He has great feet, pocket awareness, arm strength, short/long accuracy, escape & playmaking mobility, and the size you can’t teach. His turnovers are a major concern.
Does he have the most important qualities of information processing, drive/work ethic of a champion, critical toughness, takes every loss personally, and the “John Candy” late game cool/confidence? No idea

Solid read on JLove's positives, bro. The con is turnovers with Love.

I don't see the same positive attributes when it comes to Herbert's profile. Love has a touch on his passes and Herbert throws bullets, so it's hard to draw a conclusion.

The one thing I’d say about the top 4 QBs is Love played on by far the shittiest of the 4 teams. His supporting cast wasnt very good.

Love's offense did him no favors. He was forced to play hero ball most of the time. He lost 9 offensive starters last year and had a new head coach and O.C. Utah State isn't exactly a juggernaut of talent. What I notice is a guy who goes to more 2nd and 3rd reads than any of the other QBs and he looks really comfortable doing it. The offense he ran was VERY predictable thats where so many of his Interceptions came from. The defense knew what was coming and he was still trying to make plays. He's gonna be a much better NFL QB than what he showed in college.

Agree. He was not very good against LSU and say what you want about his WRs,...he didn't make good throws. One of his THREE INTs was right to the defender. Others not good throws.
He kinda jump sets his feet and then immediately throws the ball. His footwork is bad, feet not really set.

He had a 3 game stretch against Nevsda, LSU and Colorado st ....in that order where he threw 3 TDs and 6 INTs, under 50% completion. Two of those games they won in spite of him. Against Nevada he had a 41% completion rate.

Id rather have Hurts than Love but neither excite me. However I do think Hurts is the better player.

Love in the first would be a terrible pick for us....don't care what other teams do with him the first. Hec I'd be ok if a division rival drafted him in the first round.
