Justin Herbert - Bolts Franchise QB Official Discussion

I just heard from salty 49er fans who are quite po'd Brock Purdy is not on this list but Herbert is.

Imagine what GRO's offense would have accomplished last year if they had Purdy instead of Herbert.

I read recently that the Lions seriously considered Herbert at #3 in 2020 to eventually succeed Matt Stafford. They held a pre-draft video conference with him; Lions coaches worked with him at the Senior Bowl and were impressed. They drafted Ohio State CB Jeff Okudah instead, who turned out to be a flaming bust, he's played for 4 teams, I'm not sure he his currently signed to a roster. All the players drafted before Herbert after Burrow have turned out to be disappointments, save maybe for OT Andrew Thomas, who has been solid for the Giants at LT but has never been a Pro Bowler. I just remember all the Chargers fans who wanted TT to draft Isaiah Simmons instead of Herbert.

I like and respect Daniel Jeremiah and he is not always right. Personally I'm always happy when the Chargers make a great choice even if I wasn't right about him pre-draft.

Do you believe TT would've drafted Tua over Herbert if both were on the board when the Chargers drafted in 2020? I believe he would have, Tua was considered the better prospect.

I posted in other thread - I've never seen a single report that TT really wanted Tua. I didn't think Tua was a better prospect, so its easy for me to believe Tom didn't either.

I think you're implying they changed the right side FOR Tua? not exactly sure but didn't the entire OL change? Weren't both OLs bad too?

I remember OL having problems and they were just trying to improve. I strongly doubt the OL was remade for Tua.

That 2019 Oline was PR's going away present for the year. PR looked simply bad that final season.

He's useable RT depth. Slater is easily TT's best OL pick.
