R.I.P Garry Marshall, 81. Created Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, and Mork & Mindy, adapted The Odd Couple and directed lots of famous movies (Pretty Woman) . Survived by sister Penny, also by his wife of 53 years, and tons of family.
R.I.P. John McLaughlin, 89, of the "McLaughlin Group". He just got suddenly sick, and missed last weeks show after 34 years. Always liked the debates, especially the wars between Eleanor Clift, and Pat Buchanan.

Bye-bye!
For me, McLaughlin invented political punditry on television. It wasn't until later, when I learned a little about recent U.S. history, that I realized he and my favorite pundit, Pat Buchanan, were Nixonites. Anyway- that's beside the point. The McLaughlin Group was awesome. When McLaughlin would call his pundits nicknames like Uncle Morty, Beadle Barnes, and Eleanor Rodham Clinton, ask them a question, and interrupt them a moment later with "Wrong! The answer is ...", he made political news entertaining as fuck. The way he did it was funny and almost informative. Unfortunately, CNN later butchered his style and ended up ruining TV news.
In my mind, McLaughln was the John Madden of political talk. Madden also got famous by working for an evil power before inventing a unique style of commentary that was sort of funny when he did it. But, once every other NFL television color commentator adopted his style, it ruined color commentary.

Damn, why is this not more of a news thing? We're talking about pop culture history here.
