Was never a fan of Superunknown. Loved their earlier stuff.

Been ruled a suicide. Huge fan of Louder than Love.

Supposedly he wasn't suicidal, maybe he choked himself accidentally. Sad.

Man that is terrible news, hard to believe it was suicide. Accident? Auto asphyxiation? I guess it doesn't matter

All of Soundgardens work was good but Superunknown was just one amazing album...psychedelia, odd time signatures and killer riffs ... not to mention one of the greatest rock vocalists ever, damn
Forget it Donny you're out of your element

              Shut the fuck up Donny

Yeah, I totally agree about Superunknown.
                RIP Cornell

His solo album with Eleven was really good too.
And being a grunge fan is such a bummer since so many of our best died so young.

I saw them in LA at the Variety Arts center. Such a great show! So sad to see this. RIP.

Chris Cornell's passing shook me up pretty bad yesterday.

Not that I know him or met him, or anything along those lines. But he always seemed like such a good guy.

I remember watching the PJ20 documentary, and Chris was always around, was actually roommates with Andy Wood of Mother Love Bone.

From Rolling Stone's "Oral History of Mother Love Bone"
McCready: Ed was from San Diego and he felt very intimidated in Seattle. Chris really welcomed him. Ed was super, super shy. Chris took him out for beers and told him stories. He was like, "Hey, welcome to Seattle. I love Jeff and Stone. I give you my blessing." From then on he was more relaxed. It was one of the coolest things I saw Chris do.
Chris Cornell, Mike McCready and Jeff Ament discuss the history of Seattle supergroup Temple of the Dog, and what to expect on their upcoming tour.

And what a tremendous vocalist. Just phenomenal.

"...of course that's just my opinion, I could be wrong."

I guess we can't have one day of no dying. This thread is a little haunting. Scared who I might see next.

Andrew Wood, Layne, Kurt, Mia Zapata and now Chris. So much loss for such a small scene.

And so many taking themselves out after massive success. The constant gray wet weather in NW is known to cause many people depression, and I can't dismiss that being part of what's happening there.
