Jake Funk, RB out of Maryland, was on GMFB this AM. Great kid. Talked about how he is a football player more than a RB, even though he broke records at Maryland...talked about getting tackles on special teams just as important. Loved what he had to say, looked up his pro day...very nice. 4.4ish 40, 38 vert, 22 reps....great athlete, great late round special teams pickup.

Saw his interview. He was fantastic and dude is built like a brick shithouse! Couple of ACL’s but speed, vision, power, hands @RB and uber competitor with 30+ ST tackles at Maryland.
On the negative he didn’t know Knight Rider or Baywatch without the Rock. These kids.
In addition to his skills as a player, he is intelligent. In a game this year, where he caught a TD out of the backfield, it was almost nullified due to a called offensive pass intereference (blocking). You could hear Funk explaning to the ref, (I don't know the rule) that the pass was behind the line of scrimmage. The refs picked up the flag and announced there was no infraction on the play. I see coaching in his future.
The two ACLs are concerning but I'd love to see get drafted. Even better if he ends up with the Bolts somehow.

The "Funk Train"...also known as, ahem, "Grand Funk Railroad"...
Earlier in life I drew football milk from the bosom of Jimmy Johnson. His teat was stiff, his chest bristly, but I drew hard...and I learned. Central to JJ's brilliance was his understanding and value of ***playmakers.***
And he was way ahead of the curve knowing that fast/quick players would beat big ones. Even back then he didn't flinch at 230 pound linebackers.
There is no single defensive player in the entire draft that is the equal play-maker to JKO. Not one. Not close. Inexplicably JKO is till on the board (Tweener curse)
There, naked in the second round...he sits and beckons. I know it upsets the apple-cart and breaks the plan, but TT...go get him! (and put a towell around him please!) Play him at safety, play him at linebacker, play him at nickle. He'll excel at all...and more. This draft has no such pure football player as this.
Mark it: JKO is defensive rookie of the year. BPA, baby.
