It takes balance, leadership and coaching. A rd 1 CB doesn't make a slam dunk top pass D or more importantly, scoring D.
I would shop CB day 2, early 3 though.
My goal would be Top 5 scoring O, avg or better scoring D in '24.
    We are #21 O, #25 D today.
This is what we all wanted for the 2023 season . . . . . . .. bitterly disappointed in the entire coaching staff, but primarily Staley and Moore (in no particular order) . . . . . . as much as I hate the idea of Herbert learning yet another offense I can't see Moore being around as the OC next year, with a new HC . . . . . .

Gotta draft the player not the position.
scheme, leadership, role clarity will all help our secondary that will inevitably include Taylor and Leonard.

Most of that tape was the WI massive OL blowing the doors off of small school defenses and creating holes that Jacob Fucking Hester could run thru - I couldn’t gage him very well but it didn’t look like 4.4 to me either but who knows - iit’ll let him run pro day. He moves well for 240+ but I’d like a RB that has a elite jump cut move cuz NFL defenders are a lot better than college.

idunno - put him in the hopper with the rest for further evaluation, i can’t write him off, can’t write him in - yet.

Alt's long powerful arms solve everything, even run blocking.
Packers Elgin Jenkins can play all five OL positions with his similar tools.

          Alt = high floor/high ceiling.
Bowers = moderate floor (injury)/ very high ceiling.

          We draft @ ~ #6.
I am not here to kiss any draftniks ass.
Can y'all handle the truth ?
          This is a judgement call.

I want a clean prospect drafting this high. Value is in play.

I have been mocking since the days of Leon Burns, Tommy Prothro, Joel Buchsbaum and Duke Peasley.

Before the days of The Machine.
Alt >> Fashanu for run blocking and would be a long term bookend foundation for the team. If we don’t go premier skill player, he’s perhaps my top alternate choice.

Everyone else was celebrating his re-sign and raving about Duke Manyweather's Magic Wand.
Now we lay in the bed we made for ourselves... and blame Ol' Nutty.
            Shame on you, Woody.

I warned everyone for years about the OT and center positions. I am Trencher-4-Life.
My 2nd round pick is reserved for our starting center... while everyone else is fawning over CB's that have no man-skills.
My new crusade started 2 drafts ago... only after Slater and Linsley were drafted/signed. Even now, TPB is satisfied with the #30 pass defense.
I took a lot of heat over Orlando Brown Jr. and Christian Darri-soft. Frank Ragnow sends his regards...

After trimming the fat, Nutty likes D'Andre Swift as an Ekeler replacement and wonders where the Dalton Schultz love went...
Certain positions/players can be had more cheaply than others. Drafting premium positions in the 1st round offers solid ROI and keeps the cap clean... I think Confucius said that once upon a time.
            Ha ha ha ha.
You are King of the Trenchers.
            Or at least you were.
I am pissed about our Chargers.
This wretched season will soon be over.
Woody gonna leave a trail of smoldering rubble between now and May Day.
            Let's fix this sucker.

Hey, I am not happy about the Trenchtown neighborhood.
I would make the center position priority #2. I'm very sad about the Linsley situation. Sedrick commands a very solid Dawgs OL.
Pippy Wrong Stockings & Shortcomings put a lump of coal in our season. Check back 12 months from now... I will not disappoint! I'll mine a diamond for you from the heat and pressure. I was denied Aaron Kromer last year... as I will be denied Frank Smith this year. May I be granted his spawn as a compromise...? Sooner or later, it would nice to be granted 1 wish. Welcome to the Brock Bowers Thread.

Don't get me started on Lane Johnson or Ryan Ramczyk.

BTW Wu... Patrick Queen was a nice call. Who's up next for you?
What do you think of Junior Colson? Is he really 247 lbs.?
                  Got any sneaky-types later?

Lane we shared. Ramczyk... you went bold as I shied away.
I wanted the San Marcos kid badly... oh well. At least he got to stay in Cali.

So... who do you like for your pattern match? Isn't man coverage still a thing in pattern match? Staley used to use Ramsey that way. Do we have the safeties for that? With Derwin in the box, don't we need another safety?

                        Denzel Burks.
BTW I am happy with Kool Aids tackling.

Yeah, I watched a lot of Burks' tape when wittling down my CB's. He's my #3 (behind Kool-Aid and Kalen King). I didn't think he slotted to us... I was thinking in the 15-20 range. Trade back? Or do you think he lasts until the 2nd? Any tape on the Wiggans kid? I can't find anything.

If they picked Alt or Fashanu... I would be happy.

How do you like Tykee Smith in the 5th? Rod Moore in the 4th? They seem like pattern-match to me without breaking the bank @safety.
