I am somewhat high on Koolaid too.
A shutdown Corner is a good thing.
Where our paths diverge is in the quality of available mid round CBs.

Also, my thinking is a little different on our defensive backfield mess.
Or DBs are misfit as well as undertalented.
Hey, JaSir/Leonard are late rounders.
ASJ should patrol the middle of the field.
Derwin has GOT to be near the LOS.
I even want Vato back, but dirt cheap.
We must draft a Corner or a Combo DB or both.

Some of this agree... some I do not agree.

Agree on DB's are a mistfit and undertalented. Also agree that Derwin needs to be closer to the LOS. That's what Gusly drafted him for.
But I don't agree that ASJ needs to patrol the middle. I don't want Vato back... he may even get over-paid if someone believes in his up years and discounts his down years.

If you are going to bring Derwin up, you better have a CB that can cover the deep outside with no help. Kool-Aid would fit perfectly in that scenario. He can cover the inside slant (allow Derwin to play another assignment) and he can cover the deep outside with great boundary technique (his two best qualities).

IMO, ASJ is at his best in disguise (coming off outside route and jumping an inside route that the QB doesn't see) like he did vs the Jaguars. Playing off and keeping the field of vision in front of him is his strength. Playing press, turning his back to the play, and trying match outside speed is not his strength. He needs safety help over the top. Again, having a shut down capabilities on the other side, allows safety help to rotate to ASJ's side. The Tide does this a lot with Kool-Aid's help. But I wouldn't put ASJ @slot. Tackling is his weakness and concussions were a concern a couple of years ago.

Keenan is great. I love him but he isn't Wes Chandler or John Jefferson. But he played longer and has the stats for a possible HOF call.
And that offense has a great TE and Charlie Joiner and Muncie....and Brooks! Loaded

Im not coming off drafting Bowers but here is the bottom line.

If we land Harbaugh, he may or may not draft Bowers but I am thinking he will want strong trenches and he will evaluate what we got on the OL and evaluate who will lose in the DL and those two things will look big in the draft.

So make long posts for your argument but yours or mine won't mean shit til we see who we hire, who we trade/cut/ retain, extend, etc.
We will sign a couple FAs. Gonna have to.

If we get Harbaugh and Hortiz,...the draft will be different. Much different than what we are used to with Telesco. Which usually left us wondering WTH.

The defensive scheme will be different as well.

I like Alt over Fashanu to help fix the run game, if trench is the target. Would not mind it. Would not mind Bowers. Wouldn not mind Odunze/Naber. Maybe won’t mind KoolAid though i think 5/6 is too high for him currently. internet 40 time rumor needs to be corrected first. Lots of great options - and if there is a large truckload of picks offered to trade down, I’m listening there too

If you’re 3rd in sacks but 31st in pass defense, well shit, gotta prioritize the back seven, I’d take 15th in sacks but also 15th in pass D, right? With a different scheme for, don’t see why such a turnaround isn’t possible, especially if the O gets on track.

Many of us, Spanos for example, blamed HC/ DC Staley. We didn't have 31st personnel at LB, S, CB. The practices,scheme and play calls were garbage. Replacing him was priority #1.
That said BPA at 6 or rape a QB - needy team for multiple picks / players in a trade.
If at any point the new GM and HC believe CB is the best choice, take him. We need 4 minimum on the 53.

We have plenty of roster positions where an impact player will be a huge uplift - BPA among that not-small list of positions or the trade-back truckload haul for a GM sweating his current QB debacle. Most of the “pro experts” are putting Bowers at the top of that BPA list but thats easy to argue

I’m not an OT super guru scout - Alt looks better overall and much better at rush blocking. Fashanu is the better pure pass blocker but I think Alt has the length and agility to hold up fine as a pass protector and his superiority in rush blocking gives the deciding edge for what we need. For gods sake will we ever become a team that can run again in our lifetimes? Still need to come back and add an OC - team may not want to put a Day1 and Day2 pick in just the OL.

A dominating DT would be a huge help for our defense - it’s hard to have a top defense without one - none of us are even seriously considering a NT/IDL currently.

If Giants win and we lose, we jump them. If NYG and AZ both win, can we jump up to #4? AZ has a stronger SOS than LAC as of this morning.
