that would restart the rookie qb cap.
I'd never risk that ever, ever ever, but if Jim believed this he should find a way to get him.
I have it from a reliable source that would put us in cap hell.

I think the Bears should stick with Fields and build around him with all those picks they will get for trading down.
question is,....Is Caleb THAT much if an upgrade? Even an upgrade at all? Fields had shown promise when he was in the field.

Id stay with him. Get him another WR and some OL.

If the 49ers had won the Super Bowl there might have been a different view towards team building that treated the QB position the way other positions are viewed and putting resources all over the squad instead of wrapping up 20-25% of cap space in one guy. But that didn't happen.

We still don't know if Herbert is that guy. Sure he's got the physical tools but we need the magic

I'm not a believer in JJMC but who knows.
He has some talent but he is pretty slight

My impression is that Alt is good, very solid, but not a top 5 tackle. This isnt Ogden, Joe Thomas, or Sewell

go do some homework and look at Brady’s stats at Michigan.

                  I value height 6-3””

Hes taller than Caleb. What would Mccarrhy do in Lincoln Riley’s system. I like this kid.

He never transferred to showcase his skills. This kid values winning.

                  He’s a natural player.

                  He can do it all.

those stats in Brady’s early career are McCarthy. He’s gonna make throws winning throws. I like him way better than Desmond Ridder.

Btw Chicago is stupid to draft Caleb over Fields.keep Fields.get a king’s ransom own somebody’s draft. Like the Raiders.

And now you give Fields maybe Harrison Nabers or Odunze or Alt.
200 lbs though, and pretty skinny

Rather have our 240 pound beastly stud

                    1) RT Taliese Fuaga, DT Byron Murphy, ED Laiatu Latu, ED Jared Verse, Jer’Zhan Newton * Latu has questions against the run/sealing the edge, which could be a problem/atic
                    2) NT T’Vondre Sweat * dude is startin' to sneak into the back of the first, and of which of course is not to my likin'
                    2) DE Bralen Trice, CB Kamari Lassiter, OC Graham Barton, FS Tyler Nubin * Zierlein has Trice pretty heavily downgraded, which don't bother me, as we could def use him as ED3
                    3) RB Jonathan Brooks * he doesn't last this late on too very many mocks, albeit he is coming off injury and he's not a power back neither
                    3) LB Cedric Gray, OT Patrick Paul * gonna keep my eye on PP for a bit, and given that Zierlein pretty much sends Gray to the draft board gallows
                    4) FS Cole Bishop, OT Blake Fisher, OG Zak Zinter * like the safety as a 2025 Derwin hedge, albeit always good to keep an eye out for linemen as well
                    4) RB Braelon Allen * this might be the guy that fits what team Harbo wants to do
                    5) TE Ben Sinnott, CB Johnny Dixon * pickin' guys is much easier than slottin' 'em
                    6) RB Daijun Edwards, DT Gabe Hall, RB Dillon Johnson, CB Renardo Green, Kalen King, Elijah Jones * seein' some corners here which might work as backup boundaries
                    7) QB Joe Milton * Zierlein falls just short of running ol' Joe outta town, if not the League
                    7) LB Eric Gentry, RB Miyan Williams, OT Tylan Grable * 'nother Olineman to keep an eye out for a bit

                    8) LB Jordan Magee, CB Willie Drew, WR Xavier Weaver, DE Eric Watts, OC Jacob Monk, OT Julian Pearl, WR DeVaughn Vele, WR Jalen Coker, RT Josiah Ezirim, SS Tyler Owens, RB Keilan Robinson * UDFAs
ED Matayo Uiagalelei, DT Dontay Corleone, OC Iapani Laloulu, CB Domani Jackson, OG Earnest Greene III, WR J Michael Sturdivant, LB Eric Gentry
TE Jelani Woods, LB Isaiah Simmons, TE Cade Otton, RB Kyren Williams, P Matt Araiza

And he’s the reason we have Derwin James because the Niners botched that and they were supposed to draft him.
There is a zero percent chance of predicting whether Alt is Staley or McGlinchey. Even the 49ers couldn't tell. McGlinchey went #9 and Staley went #28.

What we can say for sure... Harbaugh went 36-11-1 with 2 first-round OT's from 2011-2013 He went 8-8 in 2014 when Jonathan Martin replaced the injured Anthony Davis @RT.

Now I'm gonna go out on a limb and say losing Patrick Willis and Navarro Bowman probably had more to do with that dip. But I will only add that Jim likes his LB's too.

Could I see Harbaugh/Hortiz going Alt @#5 then a center, DT, and LB (rounds 2-4)...? Yeah, I could see that. Especially since the DT and LB group is so deep. Add in the fact that Mack or Bosa (maybe both) could be traded for 3rd round picks...

                      Run the ball

Joe Alt is Robert Gallery one day...Mike McGlinchey another. At some point on this forum he's going to be Tony Mandarich.
