Then Reid traded his first-round pick on Orlando Brown the following offseason. He used a second-round pick on Mitch Morse, a center, in 2015. He used another second-round pick on a center in 2021 (Creed Humphrey). He used three first-round picks on pass-rushers and traded another for Frank Clark. That's six first-round picks used on LINEMEN. They also traded out of their first-round pick in 2016 by moving down. They selected Chris Jones, another defensive lineman. When they didn't have a first-round pick in 2018 because they traded up for Patrick Mahomes in 2017, their first selection was defensive end Breeland Speaks in the second round followed by defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi. What's missing here? ZERO first-round picks on wide receivers and tight ends.

Fixated on right tackle? No. Name a center, guard, or defensive tackle who should be picked fifth overall. There aren't any. If we go offensive line with the fifth overall pick it will be a right tackle. Some, including myself, think Joe Alt would do well in that spot. Most of us want to trade down and take a right tackle or defensive player while acquiring more picks.

After all of the crap we've had at right tackle over the last 15+ years (Clary, Fluker, Barksdale, Tevi, Scott, Storm), I don't understand how anyone can accept Pipkins as good enough or think moving Salyer there is the answer. "Pipkins wasn't our worst offensive lineman last year. He was the second or third worst. When he's at his best he can be about average." Yeah, that's a real ringing endorsement. Lol.
A good chunk of that time they were living high having hit the mother lode with Kelce and Tyreek Hill ... so its not a fair assessment.
And they got those guys because Andy Reid doesn't mind having scum bags on his roster.

After trading Hill, they've selected consecutively 2nd round wide receivers.
Kelce is living on borrowed time.

Khalil Mack is going to be 33.5 when the season starts and coming off a career year - he might fall of a cliff. We have no idea for either. If Mack is back, thats fine - had a very good year. I just think they should sell high on him as his value will probably only go down and unless a contract is structured the right way -could just be creating dead cap in a couple years or overpaying for a declining player
Khalil Mack might be one of those 'gene's guys who still is a good player at 36 years.

Jaylen Wright is another. If they take you either Lloyd or Corum, I hope they take Keilan Robinson with their last 7th rounder. He can be that speedy scat back like Keaton Mitchel of Baltimore last year.
I prefer Wright or Benson over Lloyd and Corum but we'll see. I know we have the RB coach and he worked with Lloyd but it isnt a lock we draft him or Corum imo. Talent is talent and they will draft the best they can.

Both Benson and Wright ran faster than Robinson with 20-25 extra pounds....but he would be a nice little scat if they are looking at one. Not sure thats Harbaughs type but he can run. Probably will be a UDFA.
There are only a small handfull of smaller RBs in this class. Last year was filled with undersized RBs.
          1. Mason Taylor TE LSU
          2. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio st
          3. Kyle Kennard Edge So. Carolina
          ✓
          4. CJ West DT Indiana
          5. Don'te Thornton WR Tennessee
          6. Zah Frazier CB UTSA
          6. Jarquez Hunter RB Auburn
          6. Jay Higgins LB Iowa
          6. Hunter Wohler S Wisconsin
          7. Carson Vinson OT Alabama

We took 1st round O line guys two years in a row. Linsey was an All Pro when we got him. Talent on the O line has not been the problem.
Coaching has been. If anything we have been ignoring the interior DL guys. Staley thought he had it figured out. As a result the interior DL
is a real mess now. Ditto the LBs and even CBs.

But if you want to win in this league you need weapons on offense. We have the most important one, but are lacking at the other skill
            positions.

Best fit at @5 for the Chargers is Bowers. Best talent @5 is Nabors. That's the story right there unless we trade down.

              Sure.
I was thinking in terms of Combine watching.

But I wouldn't pigeon hole myself into whom I should draft each round: side of the ball and position.

Against the Chiefs, the Charger interior needs to be fixed first and foremost, and they need to bring more pressure.
The Chargers actually have the pieces to bring pressure - attacking the Chiefs tackles, but one of them can't stay healthy
and they might get rid of two of them.

Sorry Boltnut, but getting a stud corner to take away Justin Watson or Rashee Rice doesn't do it for me.
The Bengal D gives the Chiefs fits and their corners suck.
A lock-down corner is very valuable. If you can defend Justin Watson or Rashee Rice with one defender then you can commit other defenders to, say, Travis Kelce. This is exactly how Alabama limited Brock Bowers in the SEC championship game.

Having said that, Jesse Minter ran mainly zone coverages. So I have no problem now looking for a CB later in the draft. I will also add this... Minter will use what is at his disposal. Did he have a lock-down @Michigan? Not IMO. Will college defenses translate perfectly to the NFL? Those are the real questions. I will abide with whatever the coaches think will work.

Not a lot of hype for Allen. To me he seems like the Harbaugh type but maybe not. I guess we will see.
Time to put my money where my mouth is: Hampton will be better than Jeanty!

                    Which is it?
You have to read in context... I specifically agreed with the trade-back scenario. I don't agree with his take on Pipkins. Leaving Pipkins one v one against Maxx Crosby was stupid. Continuing that philosophy is stupid. You want to assign a TE to help him? It seems the only way to go... given Pip's history against top-level pass rushers. But understand that there will be 1 less offensive weapon at your disposal. Even run blocking... Harbaugh likes to use his TE's on LB's and safeties. He won't have that at his disposal if the TE must help Pip run-block.

I would counter... you can't have it both ways.

Problem is most people dont seem to understand that Reid, Mahomes and kelsey, have won 2 straight SB's without Hill......and this year they still played and beat the very best defense in the NFL to get there......

How many years will it take to build a better defense than 49ers had this year or ravens? even those defenses dominated other teams, BUT Reid, Mahomes and kelsey, somehow, have no problem scoring on them rather easily when they really have to score, such as last series of the half or game, or OT..... those great defenses loaded with talent were not good enough to stop chiefs when it really counted....

THE ONLY WAY to beat the chiefs is to outscore them by multiple scores so one drive does not beat you, or to have a long time consuming drive to take the lead and run out the clock so they cannot come back..... that requires a great offense based around great QB, OL, great TE and a power running game..... a complete offense has a great TE and a running game.... a great TE makes average WR's into playmakers.... look at chiefs, NE... and Chargers when we had Gates...... great TE's are the hardest offensive player to defend against..... too big for DB's to cover and too fast for LBers to cover.... and they are the best safety valve for a QB.... it is easier to take away a great WR than a great TE.....great TE's are a nightmare for defenses.... huge mismatch.....

Rivers beat Reids chiefs once, when we scored at end of game AND gambled on the 2 point conversion instead of risking OT where chiefs would likely easily win....and there were literally only a few seconds left when we did that...so that worked.... because time ran out!

Reid has even beaten chargers starters with his backups in a meaningless last game of season where Chargers had to win to get a WC.....Harbaugh, being a real football coach, should instantly end that kind of chargering..... lol

In all honesty with some speculation of a team trading up to 4 and taking a QB, which puts Marvin Harrison Jr. in the Chargers laps. I don’t want him! There will be a team that wants to trade up if he’s there and I would take that trade because it would probably be a good haul. Like a lot of people have said here, they are more than just one player away.
