Joe Alt is a clear upgrade, can’t argue that.

Andy hasn’t drafted a lot of OL in Rd1, thats also false. He drafts a lot of IDL early. Lumping the two together to make a case for OT is data torture.
WTF are you talking about?! Lumping 2 together to make a case. I didn't say anything about Andy draft Rd 1 anything.

My post said he cut Cheetah and invest heavily in OL .....and it said Andy has a history of investing in the trenches on both sides of ball with Eagles and Chiefs. That obviously includes free agency and trade, etc.

You decide to make up something that wasn't stated and did your own re-write of Rd 1 OL. And then claimed it as false. Nice work.

Who has it better than us?

Of the actual starters the guards were worse at pass blocking than Pipkins. But Pipkins was the worst run blocker. And Harbaugh and Roman want to run the ball. Those young guards were also sophomore in the league, and didn't have Linsley anymore. Pipkins was a 5th year senior. Him having marginal better overall grade doesn't make him the 2nd best OL on team, IMV. For his pay rate and years in league, he was the most underachieving OL on the team and the Worst ROI of all the OL. And of course a terrible run blocker which Roman will not like at all..Neither will Jim or Joe..

Pipkins may not even make the 53 roster. IMV.
they were not good in rush blocking either. They had one good run game, #1 vs MIA.
Actually a better overall grade means he played better. That is exactly what an overall grade means (if you believe in grades)
We saw him play better in 2022. We saw Zion play exactly as bad.

Remind me again, what was the first half of Harbaugh’s priority that came directly out of his mouth? Protect Herbert? Why yes, yes it was. OT’s are paid first and foremost to protect the QB, everyone knows that. Or should. Pipkins gave up 2 sacks all year in 2022. With Scho next to him.

you and others talk about OGs being affected by bad OC, but you can’t fathom that maybe OTs were affected by shitty OG play? How’s that making sense to you? Slater was also down last year due to the shit OG play next to him.

Pipkins will make the roster, I’d be delighted to bet a platter of tacos, my confidence is so high.

I know it's hard for to give up on Pipkins since you drafted him and resigned him. But you are the GM for the Raiturds now and when he gets cut this year or next you can add him to Las Vegas Losers .

Well for roster needs. He likely makes it.
        But I can't resist a Taco bet.
Can I get a double or nothing for 2025 roster. My confidence is high he won't last long with that horrible run blocking.

          JC Latham

Been back and forth on this guy. His kickslide is wide, hardly textbook, his feet seem heavy...but he is getting some more buzz, so I buckled in and watched 4 games, and damned if he doesnt get the job done in passpro, anyway. He is either really smart, or has excellant reflexes/reaction time, because he handles speed, combo moves, passes off x stunts and quickly gets on his new target...bull rush he is of course good at. Also a monster in the run game, but thats obvious...he at first reminded me of Fluker, but he moves better, reacts faster...just a smarter, better player, I think. I wasnt a fan at first, but IF a RT is in the cards, he is a pretty damn good option. I still have Fuaga ahead of him...but wouldnt be disappointed if we take Latham...just hopefully after a trade down. That is, if we are even looking RT round one...honestly have zero idea what we Jim and Joe are looking for...except I do think they would love to get out of five...but thats JMO

if it's true that Pips will save us a fair bit of cake come June 1.... def not a certainty that he makes the roster come starting day,

and for those of you knocking/bagging on Zion.... he's had more than a coupla few games where he's had the top PFF grade or near the top, and.... as a rookie, he pretty much shut down Chris Jones, albeit and unfortunately when they switched up on him and put Mike Danna on hm, that's when he whiffed, and Herbie paid the piper/price.... happens, and agree.... perhaps a bit too often w/Johnson ??

Fuaga will wipe you off the face of the planet. There are road graders, and then there are bulldozers, and then there are Taliese Fuagas. He’s in a league of his own with the power he provides up front in the run game.

That power is aided and accentuated by just how dynamic he is getting off the line of scrimmage. Fuaga is dynamic with his initial step to get vertical momentum, but he offers acceleration through the neutral zone, and will carry explosive hitting power onto defenders as he jolts pads and resets the point of attack. He’s got that dog in him, too. They say coffee is for closers — Fuaga must have a lifetime supply. This is a tenacious player who looks to put bodies on the ground.

Fuaga is an absolute terror in the run game, and if you’re planning on docking him for playing on the right side of the offensive line, it is time to wake up to the new NFL — you need good tackles on both sides. Fuaga has impact starter ability, and thanks to an NFL frame, a stout punch, and a heavy anchor, I’d expect he lives up to that potential.

He didn't make their roster......but they Ravens are known for having quality OL. So it's tough competition in Baltimore.
I guess Joe still likes Sarell, and he was a RFA. It cost him 985k for 1 year tender. So that nothing to LOL at. It a smart roster move considering they have a cap to deal with.

According to you, Pipkins strength is his awful run blocking. LOL.
LOL, you guys know damn well know I've never been a pipkins fan, but right now I'd be very surprised if they pick anyone high to replace him, that's all I'm saying, too much other stuff to fix ATM that takes priority...doesn't mean they won't do it, I just don't think it's probable this year due to massive needs at TE, Edge, Center, Corner, and IDL...

I just think all the Alt people out here are setting themselves up for some serious dissapointment when they pick my guy Jared Verse after trading down a bit, then it'll be IOL, CB, TE, and IDL on day two...I'm predicting after player trades AND trading down from #5 that the Chargers will have 4 day two picks...

I think a cut saves 1mil. But a post June trade is 6.25mil.
Trade him to Telesco for 2025 5th Rd pick.
That 6.25 could add 2 useful vets for depth.

and for those of you who suggest Fuaga can't pass block much....

Beefy right tackle capable of playing at a high level despite his lack of ideal pad level and lower-body bend. Fuaga plays with a fairly aggressive disposition. He’s a one-pop blocker who struggles to clinch into his run blocks and is therefore forced to work overtime to sustain and finish. The pass protection technique is outstanding, and he possesses the athleticism to mirror and match edge-to-edge rush movements. Fuaga’s hand work is exceptional in pass pro and will need to remain so, because of his lack of desired range for recovering when beaten. A team could slide him to guard to improve its interior protection, but he’s best-suited at right tackle, where he should become a good starter.

Trade Pipkins post June for 2025 draft pick.
Spend that 6.25mil on useful vets. Now you turned your worst ROI Offense line player into 3 players. 2 now and 1 later.

And you draft OT high. Rd1 or Rd2 if the prospect is in the BPA group on your board.

                          He did have a decent reason for not running - recovering from an ankle injury;
but yeah, i'd assume he's losing that weight to run faster at the pro day.

A pro day time of 4.56 is 4.6 + in my book.
