I like Mike Williams a lot too. Get used to seeing Bowers on the sideline for half the season until we get tired of his injuries like Mike Williams. Great or even good is not helpful if your going to be continual injury concern. Wait until he starts getting smacked around by the best of the best compared to college ball. 80% failure rate with TE's in the NFL...there's a reason why they're not taken in the top ten let alone a guy who's already getting injured before even coming out.

guy had a high ankle sprain, had tight rope surgery and came back early. Hardly injury prone. It was his first injury, but those who oppose him say he is a injury risk. Alrighty.

I just heard a supposed expert talking about Latham saing he is not very good at mentla part of the game and hopes he improves in NFL and projects Chargers taking him at 11 after trade with MIN.... with Bowers still on the board... sounds like another Fluker....huge over weight bama OT with no brains or movement skills.... ? there will be better RT's available at 23.... lol
Top 5 or 10 myou should be drafting sure things....like MHJ, or Bowers.....

If rod woodson was sitting there..... ok..... the only reason to trade down from 5 to 11 is you believe becausae 4 of the top picks will be QB's.... that an elite cant miss player will be there at 11....

At 23 you kn ow you will get a good player but cant miss players are gone at that point.... 5 or 11 has to be a cant miss player...

There seems to be a general movement towards trashing everyone ..... no one is safe.

I've heard that Fuaga never attends classes at UCLA and that JC Latham is functionally illiterate .... still is on the Dean's list at U. of Alabama.

What i'm reading there is that Ogden's ceiling was the Moon, he just wasn't a finished product.
Ogden was a 350 pound mountain, not a beanpole, and I remember him largely considered to be a special player during that draft.

I've heard people compare MHJr to the next coming, Nabers to Jamarr Chase, and Odunze to Larry Fitzgerald;

but attempt to pin down anyone with a comparison of Beanpole and you get the cold shoulder.
Better than Mike McGlinchey is the most anyone has opined, which is not encouraging when investing a top 5 pick.

I'd just like he hear once someone say that this guy will be a fixture at the pro bowl.

Until then, here's my comp: Alt is the anti-Ogden, a guy whose a finished product with flaws coming out of Notre Dame.

If I could suppress my sarcasm and just be honest, I'd say that there is something about him that worries me more than the top group of RTs.

Alt's a finished product after he just turned 21 years old and has played a total of three seasons at offensive tackle--after he played tight end in high school? OK, I guess that's the way you choose to see it.

I can see the comparison between Herbert and Wentz in college.
I don't know what Wentz's career would hadn't been like if it weren't for the torn ACL and other injuries.
He was after all the leading MVP candidate in 2017, late in the season.

I'm looking for someone, somewhere, to go out on a line and say this kid (Alt) is going to be an absolute star at OT.
The next Joe Thomas would be akin to that, but not necessary.

If he's not going to dominate at his position, why draft him so high?
He's not a QB.

Nabors is an elite talent physically... he can do things that most others cannot do....The only flaw ive seen with nabors, is if you look at his highlight videos, it appears like he is always jawing and taunting his opponents after not just TD's but nearly every first down or big play... that is only thing that scares me..... he has some DIVA "Me Me" traits......
Compare that with MHJ who is best WR in many years and pure class....looks like Jerry Rice or Fitzgerald..... makes plays and goes back to huddle ..... not firing up the defense with stupid taunting....etc... MHJ is a cant miss WR... only issue with drafting top WR is that we will have to trade him in 4 years because any team with a great expensive QB cannot afford to spend 30-40 million per year on a WR when every year there are many outstanding WR's who can make great plays if you have a great QB and a great power running game....

Onduze appears to be a very physical professional WR..... no Diva nonsense....

But Nabors is a super elite athlete.... Tyreek Hill kind of physical slkills....

I still want Bowers because he will have a greater impact and for many more years (because we can afford him )in Harbaughs offense than an elite WR..... Bowers will play elite TE receiving threat, elite FB runner and receiving threat..... He is the kind of offensive player that can beat the chiefs.....

the best way to build NFL offenses is from the inside out...meaning:

find a great QB who is clutch..
build a great OL
find a great TE
Find power RB's who run forward and dont fumble, and can pick up blitzers...
finally find fast WR's who can beat single coverage on play action plays...

reid has out smarted the best loaded defenses(talent wise) in NFL that last 2 years to win 2 consecutive SB's......without a great WR!!!..... just with a great QB and a great TE.... yes, defense was good because they blitze on almost every play..... BUT Chiefs always manage game so they have at least ONE series to win the game on offense.... and no matter how much they struggled in other pars of game they move effortlessly om those final drives to win games,,,,, like taking candy from a baby.....

to build NFL defenses again the most important thing is the DT's and LBers up the middle because as Chargers fans have seen.... if you cannot stop the run you cannot stop anything...
Once you have great DT's and LBers, you need shut down man to man CB's.....so you pass rush up the middle has a chance to get there..... DE's are over rated today because of how quick the ball is released, so pressure from DT's or blitzes has to come up the middle to have a shot at the QB....

Outside pass rushers never sacked Brady.... ask Bosa who got to him in like 2, something seconds yet ball was already gone to a wide open receiver because Chargers were stupidly told to play 10-15 yards off????....leaving almost everyone wide open for 5-10 yards.... or more.... lol
blitzing does zero good if you give up all the short areas....

Good analysis...we have the clutch QB...on O-line need road-grading RG and RT...a great TE is preferable, but not essential...a couple of solid, blocking TE's will do for now...a solid RB to add to the committee is important, agree...and this draft is deep in wideouts...maybe round 4...also agree we need a run-stuffing DT and we know that Harbo and Minter like a good blitzing LB...

Now, if you're asking me to "go out on a line and say this kid's going to be an absolute star at OT," I won't do it. I also won't do it for Malik Nabers, Rome Odunze, Brock Bowers, and nearly every other player who could go in the top ten. It's not that often you get more than three Hall of Famers drafted in the first round. There have been entire drafts that have had only one (Charles Haley, a fourth-round pick, is the only one from the 1986 NFL Draft) or two. Yet, there are people on here saying these three receivers and tight end are going to be "generational talents." I can tell you right now, it's not very likely that all four of them will be just that. It's not very likely that two or three of them will be just that. If I had to put money on who the "absolute stars" will be in this first round, I would be confident with Marvin Harrison, Jr. (who won't be there when we pick) and somewhat OK with Caleb Williams (a quarterback we don't need). It won't surprise me at all if neither ends up being an "absolute star" and the best player from this draft is picked in the fourth round or beyond.

I like Alt a lot, though, and believe he won't have a problem switching to the right side, given his athleticism and intelligence. Being how Walter Jones barely started at Florida State, and Jonathan Ogden wasn't considered a mauler at UCLA, I'm not concerned with Alt being considered a "beanpole" or "finesse" lineman by some on this forum, especially if he's playing for Harbaugh and training with Ben Herbert.

Now, considering you think Taliese Fuaga is a UCLA product, feel free to tell me how much extensive time you've put in researching and watching film of Alt and the rest of the offensive tackle prospects.
