BTW, Madubuike wasn't considered elite... he was a 3rd rounder. He was solid, though. I'll take solid... every year.
2nd and 3rd round is where I look for DT's. This year, #37 should have several very solid DT's sitting there.Protect the QB

Tykee is a safety that could come up and play in the slot, too. Meanwhile, Proctor is tough v the run. He will blow you up.
IMO, the safety position is lackluster at the top (Nubin is solid... but not elite)... but very deep. There are some 4th, 5th (maybe even 6th) possibilities.Protect the QB

With the OT class having quality starters @#7-20 range (5 or 6 possible)... and possibly 6 QB's going in the first 20 picks...
Maybe Byron Murphy is there @#23. I'm not as sold on Jer'Zhan as others are... but if JH likes him... he's probably there @#23.
Imagine Fuaga @#11... Byron Murphy @#23... and the best available LB @#37...?
THAT would be a tough team to beat every Sunday. You'd come out of that scrape knowing that you played football. Leave that finesse bullshit behind.Protect the QB

Biggest factor is if AZ will want that trade. It would be pretty arrogant of them to expect us to just let them have #5. They will pay for that one as well.

Kool-Aid McKinstry is the best man-cover CB in the nation. His inside/outside technique is outstanding. He uses the outside boundary really well... and has the length/burst to trail and defend quick slants over the middle. Saban uses him to lockdown one side of the field... allows the Alabama secondary to play a condensed zone on the opposite side (Terrion's side). Whichever WR LSU put out to the left of the formation (Kool-Aid's side)... they often never even looked his way (QB's eyes were focused on Terrion's side). It didn't matter whether Nabers was out left, or whether Thomas Jr. was out left... the play's first read was not designed to go there. There were a couple times early on where they took a peek... but mostly all to the right of the formation/patterns.
LSU started airing it out. Jaylen Daniels was also pulling the ball down and picking up 3rd downs with his feet, too. Nabers started to do damage from the slot against Alabama's safeties... where the safeties got caught looking into the backfield @Daniels. Nabers burned them deep (middle seam route)... and once more on the outside (against Malachi Moore...?). But he had some drops, too. Not perfect passes... but should have caught them.
I am not throwing shade Nabers' way at all. I think he's very good. But I think his 10 catches 171 yards was a product of the game situation(s). He had a great game (stats-wise). But LSU lost that game 42-28. Jayden Daniels injury made LSU's offense ineffective late in the 3rd quarter.
