There are several routes they can take with that one. I'm not in favor of trading Bosa, but if that's what Harbaugh and Hortiz choose to do, I won't cry about it.

I love all three pass-rushers in the first round, and there are a few others beyond the first we could look into. Personally, after watching what the New York Giants did to Tom Brady in two Super Bowls, I will never have a problem with taking a pass-rusher early. The Giants drafted Mathias Kiwanuka in the first round when they already had Michael Strahan, Osi Umenyiora, and Justin Tuck. They drafted Jason Pierre-Paul in the first round when they already had Umenyiora, Tuck, and Kiwanuka. So I will have no problem with Hortiz taking a pass-rusher in the first round even if we keep Bosa and Mack.

I'm glad I don't have to make that decision. I like them both a lot and think either would be a fine addition. But if a chimpanzee twisted my arm and threatened to rip it off, I would go with Verse.

I've seen more of Dallas Turner, but in the handful of games I watched Verse I was a little more impressed. Turner disappeared in some games I watched, while Verse was making an impact in every game I saw him. The "relentless motor" many describe he plays with is true. He plays with a great deal of intensity. He was a nightmare to block.

I'm really hoping everything checks out well medically with Laiatu Latu at the combine. I like him just slightly more than Verse and Turner.

But, like I said, I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.

          Nice report.

I think this guys is more qualified than anyone on this board to offer an opinion of Bowers

Daniel Kelly is a former NFL Scout with the New York Jets. He was hired on the regime which featured Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Scott Pioli, Mike Tannenbaum, and Dick Haley.

            Agree, he is more qualified.

Got to like that the ariticle starts with this

There are grades, and then there are ‘grades,’ and giving Georgia tight end a Hall of Fame grade before the draft is only the second time I’ve ever done this.

Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter was the first,

Now Carter didnt start but a couple games but played in them all and was rotated in often and still had 6 sacks , 8 tksl for loss and 9 QB hits as a DT. He was runner up DROY and had 14 first place votes to Will Andersons 16.
But i think he i taking over for Fletcher Cox as he is aging and on the downswing and their other DT was a 2022 first round pick from Georgia, Jordon Davis.

He has about 30 years of experience and has given Hall of Fame grades to just Jalen Carter and Brock Bowers? OK. Lol.

With Bowers, Hortiz' has the chance to make a first-ever pick that encapsulates the vision of this franchise moving forward.
the intangible is as important as the tangible.
Bowers a true matchup nightmare, a true competitor and "football player" in it's purest definition.
ironically, similar to when Ozzie first picked Johnathan Ogden.
Let's not get cute and leave it up to other teams to dictate which guy is left, let's be bold and announce to the NFL world that BOWERS IS OUR GUY
and we're able to build a lasting, championship quality team without trading away an opportunity to draft our next future HOFer.

I've got him beat. Do you know how many HOF awards I've given to college players before they ever played in an NFL game against NFL players...? Zero.

This is pure fantasy and the NFL will come as a big surprise for Bowers. Maybe in a couple years he will get to a higher level but it takes player 1-2 seasons before they're any good. The top 3 receivers are pretty much guaranteed to start playing at a higher level. Unless we trade down a few spots we will look stupid in my opinion.

                      I don't think so.
I'm assuming you're referring to the trend we've seen with first round TEs?
Bowers is unique, there will be growing pains, but he's contributing in 2024.
imo he has just a good a chance as any WR to start fast, I'd say a better chance simply because he's automatically TE1 whereas any WR we pick would be gradually worked into WR1.
Any of these 4 weapons would be major contributors this year imo but the point is that Hortiz and Harbaugh choose THEIR guy for whom the offense will go through at some point.
I won't be mad at a trade down, but I'd like to be bold and communicate to whomever it is that we didn't leave it up to chance.

Yeah, hard to call a college player a HOF before they get in the league. Too many busts.

When 40 to 50 % of first rounders don't pan out, it's tough to call someone a HOFer going in.

Is this one person's opinion, or the general opinion of the scouting community (to whom he no longer belongs)?

And what I really want to know is which Georgia Bulldog coming out next year will he tell us is a lock in Canton?
