Good point,
The rumors swirling in New England right now is they may really like McCarthy over Maye and may trade back to get in better position to get him. Could be a smoke screen but from what Coach Mayo and Wolfe have said about the traits they are looking for in a QB, McCarthy fits those traits better than Maye does.
I will say that if one of the Top 4 trade back, it will most assuredly happen before the draft, probably the week leading up to it. Once that 15-minute clock starts it becomes a game of chicken and harder to pull off the complexed deals.Last edited by Boltjolt; 04-08-2024, 01:59 PM.

Any QB they would take in this draft would either be sitting for the next 3 years or forcing a very sunken cost asset to the bench. They would be spending almost $100 million dollars on their QB position for 2024 alone. And that's if they moved up to just #5. I'm not saying it's impossible but.....
I remember way back when, when Russell Wilson wouldn't get cut before his "out"
I realize the days of rookie QBs sitting behind a veteran QB are long gone but if ATL has a unqiue opportunity, they should consider it. Blank at thia point cannot over invest at QB.
Like said about us often, there is no guarantee that pick this high with Cousins at QB, I see them as consistently average to better with Cousins.HAMMER TIME

I say it's realistic that they trade with us ahead of the Giants.
Same with the giants - they played Daniel jones 3 or 4 years behind an offensive line that would make Telescos worse offensive line look good with no offensive weapons at all. They already paid the kid quite a bit of money but never let him play with a full deck. For the amount they invested I think they’ll wanna see what he can do with an actual NFL caliber offense. Daboll is also on the hot seat and will want to roll with the veteran to win now vs having to start a rookie.
Thus IMO any talk about Atlanta or the giants picking a QB outside of something really weird happening like Daniels falling outside the top 3 is them bluffing.
Minnesota has to know all this too and I’m sure they realize their only competition for the 4th QB is Denver and the ‘Fade.

Just the way this dream offseason has gone...I fully expect MHJr to be there at #5 for us. I really do.
Question is...so we take him? Do we trade down? For me it would be a no brainer...not sure if Hortiz sees it that way though.ESPN Screename: GoBolts02

A defensive head coach like morris will love Cousins because he won’t have to worry about the offense and turnovers vs a rookie with a pretty steep learning curve. Cousins was seriously playing elite football last year before he went down no reason to even think of replacing him for another couple of years.

AND when it comes to QB play, you can throw away any and all plans in garbage.
Defensive minded HC? Check
Paying lots of money? Check
Cap situation and plans? Check
But if they think Maye is the next Justin Herbert, any front office will gladly change course to draft and develop him.
we are so spoiled here with JH that we take for granted what he means for this franchise. We were on the brink of depending on Tyrod Taylor to keep us at .500 while trying to trade up every draft for a Mac Jones, or a Kenny Pickett, or an Anthony Richardson.
Also keep in mind, ATL specifically has 1 MFIC and its not the HC or GM. It's the guy who pays them.HAMMER TIME

Joe understands that this is year 1 of a mini rebuild so while trading down will expedite the process, he's never getting a chance to draft a MH2 again, and this is a guy that even Minter couldn't contain (sure they won but MH2 did his damage).
Trader Joe is confident that the LAC WILL haWe a dominant OL and DL at some point soon under his watch, and they aren't depending on a trade down to do it. At least I hope not.
Optics is also a real thing, and the Keenan Allen situation/controversy gets squashed.
No one will blame Trader Joe for sticking at 5 and drafting MH2 even if it doesn't work out..HAMMER TIME

I bet he drives a Dodge Charger.
How many different ways does it have to be explained ?
Jim likes OL.
