LOL, you always seem to say those kind of things to me for some reason and i dont know why . Just because i like putting together multiple round mocks i guess, I dont know. Its not like im right very much. I like picking the right possitions for teams as much as the player. Its all a best guess game.

OLB and WR are our two most crowded positions if you take the guys coming back from injury into account. The whole point is to predict what TT will do. I see him keeping everyone in those positions. We will conceivably have TWO CB's in Wright and Williams on the entire roster this offseason. Why wouldn't you draft two cbs if that's the case?Originally posted by Boltjolt View PostWell im not one to use a generator and i dont like picking two CBs. No OLB and no WR? RB in the second? Not good use of a high pick imo.
Tre Mason is a fucking stud, if he drops to us in the 2nd he's the BPA. Matthews is a FA after the year. Ronnie is likely gone.
The better question is why don't you recognize why we could go this route?

Because im not convinced we will keep Floyd with a 4 million cap hit and DX has two bad knees. They may sign him to a one year deal but he is a big risk as well. Will Royal still be around with his big cap number? Im pretty convinced they will draft another WR.Originally posted by Beerman View PostOLB and WR are our two most crowded positions if you take the guys coming back from injury into account. Mathews i think is a shoo in resigning and we have Woodhead. I can see them drafting one later maybe or signing a FA or just going with Kerwynn Williams who is on our PS and a Sproles type of player who also returns kicks. He is about the same size as Woodhead. Mason wouldnt start and RBs arent valued as they once were. Hec Andre Ellington was a 6th rounder and that guy was a damn good college player and is Arizonas best RB already.
CBs we dont know if Cox will be back or if we will rebound and we also have Gilchrist, Wright and Williams. I can see a draft pick or a FA but dont see two rookies that would being drafted for depth along with what would be Williams rookie season. Id love to see Verner but he might be too expensive. Sam Shields would be another good one who wont cost as much.
OLB is crowded with whom really? If Freeney is brought back, he would be 34, injury prone and expensive with one year remaining. JJ would be 33 and expensive with a 5. mil cap hit and he missed multiple games. English wont be back, Keisler is good depth and then there is Ingram and Williams. Walker isnt anything to speak of. We need pass rushers and that is all there is to it.
You can never have enough good pass rushers in a 3-4 and we really dont. Ingram and Freeney are the only real pass rushers we have and one is about done.
The cap room could change this as well and they may not keep both Freeney and JJ. Just how i see it and of course, i could very well b wrong.

Those are all what ifs as well. Teams don't have the luxury of carrying so many OLB's. We are already at 5 with guys under contract. I see us going after an OLB next draft once we clear Freeney and JJ off the books. Could change this offseason, but I suspect it won't.Originally posted by Boltjolt View PostBecause im not convinced we will keep Floyd with a 4 million cap hit and DX has two bad knees. Even if they move Gilchrist to NB, we still need more CBs. At least two more. Verner will cost an assload. As will Sam Shields. CBs generally are very well paid in FA.
Floyd's contract is FULLY guaranteed next year. He may retire and we can clear it from the cap. TBD.
You may think Matthews is a shoo in to resign. Doesn't mean his agent and TT will agree on his price. Mason is a stud. Like I said he was BPA at the moment when I made that pick in the generator. Can never have too many playmakers. RBs get injured.

I think Floyd is going to stick around one more year. He does have a $4 million cap number but a $5 million in dead money if they cut him.Originally posted by Boltjolt View PostBecause im not convinced we will keep Floyd with a 4 million cap hit and DX has two bad knees. I agree with you completely about the pass rushers. Follow the NYG model and keep on drafting them.

Yes i know this is all what if's. I just Doubt Mathews is a difficult singing at all. He is playing where he wants to be. I dont see him leaving. Mason is a good player but i dont see a 2nd round RB being drafted with other bigger issues, but who knows.Originally posted by Beerman View PostThose are all what ifs as well. I cant see going with three rookie CB's (Williams will essentually be a rookie)in the secondary. Verner will cost , Shields is affordable and wouldnt cost as much as Cox....who is another matter if he is around or not. They save 1.6 mil by cutting him but then have 3.9 mil in dead money. No idea what they will do there. I dont think the secondary is as big a problem as the pass rush. A better pass rush will fix the secondary.
BTW, Johnny Patrick did not clear waivers. We claimed him off waivers so he has a year left under contract with us. We assumed his rookie contract. His concussions could be an issue though he went on IR with an ankle injury. If not, then we have another CB on the roster.
This will be an interesting offseason for us for sure. I guess we will have a better idea of things after FA'cy at least. Tough to say right now.Last edited by Boltjolt; 12-25-2013, 01:08 PM.

I don't see that at all. He's going to want to cash in.Originally posted by Boltjolt View PostYes i know this is all what if's. I just Doubt Mathews is a difficult singing at all. I also don't see why you think Shields will be cheap. He won't be. He rejected a multiyear deal this offseason and took the RFA tag. He's 25 and only getting better.
They aren't gonna pay Cox 4 mill salary to ride the bench if they can get out of his contract, which supposedly they can. The dead money hit can be spread over two years giving them even more cap room next year when needed.
I guess they can keep Patrick. Don't think his spot is assured at all, but he should at least make it to camp.Last edited by Beerman; 12-25-2013, 03:38 PM.
