Make Bridgewater into a safety! (or he just did one.)

More like Tebow vs. Cutler. Brees has talent. Vick is a dog killer, not a slacker.Originally posted by Kyle View PostGive me the guy with less physical talent, but a
relentless drive and dedication to the game. Most of the time that beats the "once a decade" physical talent with questionable drive (i.e. Brees vs. Vick).

As far as Clowney goes, how he has handled himself this year makes you wonder how much he wants to work to be special. There are many more Wes Welker/John Randle type guys who have limited physical ability, but work so hard at their craft and eventually develop into the best players at their positions then there are supremely talented guys who develop to their full potential. I would have liked to have seen Clowney a little hungier to develop into a better player. He has that talent, but unless his fundamentals and mental side of the game develop, he is not going to have the sort of dominant career you want out of such a high pick.
The catch is, that while there are a lot more guys with drive, the vast majority of them will still never develop into even decent players. Most of them will just not have the chance to get enough reps to turn into top players. Both Welker and Randle started off as fringe players who got cut multiple times before finally sticking and not playing much for a while. then they developed later.
Ideallly, you would like to get the Gates types. Guys who have good physical skills, and are driven to be great and then put in the work to achieve. But there just are not that many of them.

Any losers out there still want to play for the draft pick?
Time to kick this Cincinnati asses. Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
Let’s win one for Mack.
