I wouldn't touch Rashan Gary with a 10 foot pole.

All talent, but no production. Now a torn labrum and apparently not very smart. Not a good combo in my book.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
      Let’s win one for Mack.

Rashan Gary is becoming NFL draft's first free-faller

        By Mark Fischer
        April 23, 2019 | 11:43am | Updated

Rashan Gary went from Michigan Man to NFL draft mystery man in a hurry.
Some say the athletic defensive lineman is a destined top-10 pick, while others speculate he'll be this year's infamous nose-diver.
This latest revelation won't help Gary's cause.
The athletic 6-foot-4, 277-pounder has a labrum tear in his shoulder, NFL Network revealed Tuesday, and it's reported teams believe Gary can play the coming season while putting off inevitable surgery. The injury was flagged by the league's medical staff ahead of Thursday's draft.
Gary, formerly of Paramus Catholic where he was ranked the No.1 collegiate prospect, suited up in nine games for the Wolverines last season due to shoulder complications.
His shaky sack production -- totaling just 9.5 in three years at Michigan -- had already begun scaring away prospective employers.
"I had one GM say 10-28 for a range," ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. recently told reporters. "That's one heck of a range for a guy who is very polarizing."
There's always at least one highly coveted prospect left shaking in the NFL draft green room after plunging down the board, and it seems Gary is a prime candidate.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.
        Let’s win one for Mack.

Wonderlic is pretty much useless except for QB, and maybe C and OTs, in my opinion. I can't think of any use for that, other than to downgrade prospects.

Agree. It has nothing to do with football but my guess is they think it may have e to do with being able to learn a big play book and adle to comprehend.
Doesnt really sway me at all. LT and Dan Marino both got a 13.

Some of these guys are "idiot savants" as to reaction and athletic skills, but have never cared about school work, or maybe just told by their agent that the test means nothing to his draft grade, and so they just wait for it to be over with. Even though I think its pretty much worthless for most of these guys, it can mean something for some teams on their dedication to actually getting a job in the NFL. As far as mentality, if you ask the right questions in interviews, you can pretty quickly figure out if there is a fit or not.

I remember Mayfield scored average on the wonderlic but supposedly aced the AIQ; I don't even know how much teams take it into consideration now.

Seahawks get more picks, but Chiefs get a pass rusher.

For a guy that was a franchise player i sure dont know much about him. Heard of him but seems to me he wasnt all that impactfull. We all usually know who the studs are. Maybe its just me.

The case for DT Simmons @ 28:

We went 13-5 including a road playoff win with half the D starters out due to injury late in the season. Gotta believe we are still a threat just with the guys we have coming back healthy. BUT the roster on paper in April is not the thing, it is the players we can field in December and beyond. AND I cannot let myself think we will not have injuries late, the Chargers have taught me otherwise for nearly 20 years now.

IF the team has done due diligence as to character, and believe he can come back and play in December at the latest, that does not suck. By come back I mean he is healthy and explosive and can give quality snaps if nothing else on the pass rush DL.

Not saying this is who I want at 28, but I could sure understand the pick all things considered, much more than any QB deals. In a very odd way, it may be the most win-now guy we could take at 28 (cuz even below the learning curve/pure athleticism of Simmons likely >>>>> than any other option come the playoffs).
