Looks like the bats are starting to wake up. We've had two consecutive high scoring games from a couple of pretty good pitchers. Hopefully, we're seeing the start of a trend. Also nice to see Ross throw 7 nice innings last night, and Stults putting together a decent six tonight.

Having Quintin in the middle of the order makes it real hard for pitchers to throw a lot of junk at other hitters in the lineup. They'll have to be more careful about giving up walks, and that gives our guys more pitches to hit. I see them having Q in the lineup about 4 games per week. Smith will likely be in 5-6 depending on how hot his bat stays. Venable will likely be the one to be used as late inning defense for Smith and Q. Denorfia will also be dialed back a bit, which is good, because he's at his best when he's not playing every day. I'm loving Maybin out there in CF and his bat is producing just fine. Things are looking up for the offense.

The Padres have the worst offense in the league, They field a lineup of 4, sometimes 5 guys not counting the pitcher that is hitting below .200. Are we ever going to have an owner that will get some better players?

We've been shut out a couple of times in the last couple of weeks, but the offense is definitely starting to click. If we can just get Gyorko unwound, we can be pretty deadly. Alonzo has been hot of late, and Seth Smith has been out of his mind. It was nice to see Quentin hit a blast today. That ball was smoked. We're never going to be a sluggers' paradise, but we can put up the numbers if the guys just hit like they are capable.
