Yeah, Floyd was one dimensional too. That guy had trouble separating as well. That's why he had so many circus catches. He was always covered.

I wouldn't mind if Ladarius came back, he has his uses, but I would rather let him go and go after Dwayne Allen. Allen is a more rounded player who can block.

Floyd is a millionaire, Bernie. What do you have to say about that?

What about Osemele? That versatility has to be attractive to telesco. Price tag maybe less so.

Green runs very straight line on his routes, with little wiggle or creativity. He gets most of his catches on longer, slower developing passes off of play action, that freeze the D and let him use his speed to run away from defenders. But if he has to get open on his own, on regular passing plays, he has gotten better, but is just not a good enough route runner.

The problem is that he may draw a lot of money in FA. The combine times of the TE were not that great. None of this years crop is going to show the speed to split the S in a 2 deep zone with speed, which Green can do off of play action. So, someone will ignore the fact that he is not a good route runner, fall in love with him on jump balls and on his play action routes, plus the fact that he is probably the fastest TE in the NFL, and pay him a dump truck full of money.
There talent evaporators go, speed over production. He's had about 4 plays in 4 years. Losing him is not a major loss. Use his money to sign a productive player and we come out ahead.
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

you don't watch many games do you? He's been in the shadow off HOF'er Gates all those 4 years and did quite well replacing Gates during the suspension (he missed 1 of the 4 games). Here's his stats for last year where he "started" 11 games and missed 3 to injury:

                2015 San Diego Chargers 13 11 37 429 11.6 31T 4

37 recpts for 429 yds and 4 TDs behind Gates IS a productive player. Now you guys can complain he doesn't run great routes- OK fine. That can be improved. What you can't coach up is the size and speed combo. We just lost Floyd and got nobody to replace him and are not going to get a rookie to come in and do shit there. Forget landing a top FA WR too. IF Green is asking for reasonable $, it makes more sense to fix his route running and get him out there at the same time as Gates instead of sitting behind Gates until he finally hangs it up.

Would Dee Milliner be able to improve Chargers' secondary?

The marriage between the New York Jets and Dee Milliner has never been a good one. The former first-round pick has been a serious underachiever in New York, and a change of scenery seems necessary.

Going into 2016, the San Diego Chargers are going to need to improve the secondary in a hurry. The team has Jason Verrett, but adding another solid cornerback on the opposite side of the field is a must. With Eric Weddle almost certain to move on in free agency, the secondary could become a serious weakness.

Jalen Ramsey would be a great option with the No. 3 overall pick, but could the Chargers be interested in a trade for Jets cornerback Dee Milliner as well? According to the guys over at NFL Mocks, yes they would.

In their trade scenario, the Chargers would get Milliner and the Jets seventh-round pick in exchange for their sixth-round choice. That’s a pretty low-risk option.

Milliner has struggled in New York, mostly because of injuries. He has yet to play in all 16 games during a season in his three-year career, and has played in just eight games the last two seasons combined. As a result, Milliner has just three career interceptions.

With that said, he is only 24 years old and a new atmosphere could create a brand new opportunity for him. Aside from Verrett, the Chargers have Brandon Flowers and Patrick Robinson as the only cornerbacks on the team with much experience as a starter. Milliner could step in and compete for a spot as the team’s nickel back, at the very least.

Milliner came out of Alabama in 2013 and was easily the top rated cornerback in the draft that year. In fact, there were some analysts who made the case that he was the best player in the entire draft that year. In the scouting report provided by Walter Football, Milliner was said to have great hips, quick feet, great length and the ability to be a strong tackler. They also noted very few weaknesses.

Was all of this not true? Did he lose this talent? Or has he just had a rough start to his career? If the Chargers are worried if a player can recover from a slow start after being a first-round pick, they should look no further than Robinson.

After being a first-round pick of the New Orleans Saints in 2010, Robinson played in six fairly lackluster seasons with the team. In 2015—his first in San Diego—he played in all 16 games of a season for just the second time in his career and now, it seems he could become a integral part of the defense going forward.

If the Chargers could get even a part of Milliner’s playing ability in college, the proposed trade above would absolutely be worth making. If Milliner were to come in and be a complete flop, what would the team be out? A sixth-round pick.

The Chargers should be open to all options after the season the team had last year. Attempting to resurrect the career of a talented player like Milliner should be one of those options.

The Bolts don't even lose a pick, they are swapping down one round. 6th rounder versus 7th rounder, not much difference between the two. I'd make that trade. The upside is so much greater than the downside.

A player on the roster who can not play due to injury is a detriment to the development of a player who can stay healthy. That is the possible cost of the trade. You have to ask yourself if with Verret and Flowers is we can afford another player with injury history.

I know many would disagree, but I'd like to bring Cro back. He'd improve secondary and the return game.
