Eric Weddle has some thinking to do.
He and his family will devote the weekend to it.
The former Chargers safety has received a contract offer from four different teams in free agency, a source said Friday. Before negotiations begin, he will take the next couple days to whittle down the team list, perhaps to as few as two. Factors ranging from quality of a team's roster to its surrounding schools will be considered as Weddle forms a decision.
This is unfamiliar territory for him.
Weddle, 30, has spent all nine of his NFL seasons with the Chargers. Regardless of what team he joins, San Diego will remain home for the five-time All-Pro and his family. To that effect, the Weddles are deep in the process of having a house built in the area.
His upcoming move will be a football and family decision.
To pare his options, he'll take time.
