As I read it, Mebane gets 1 million bonus this year (Guaranteed) and 4.5 mill salary. That a 4.5 Million savings if he's cut now with a 1 mill cap charge.

You gotta produce if you get paid that well.

    Contracted Players
    Brandon Mebane $4,500,000 $1,000,000 $0 $0 $0 $5,500,000 $1,000,000 $4,500,000
Now, if you excuse me, I have some Charger memories to suppress.

Mebane has been horrible this preseason. I think he is done. I think they will stash Hardison on the PS (As an ASU season ticket holder I think he has some decent potential). It is surprising Hankins hasn't signed anywhere yet.

Hankins probably doesn't want to go through the rigors of training camp, and now will sign somewhere, hopefully wearing bolts. I'm ok with parting ways with Mebane. Hankins better be in shape to play, though.

Hmmm, I wonder if he is an LA kinda guy...could be the difference maker.

Also get the feeling he knows where he wants to go, he’s just meeting with every team he can so he gets the best deal when he signs.

Chargers put in claims for 2 DTs. They obviously feel like they are weak at the position.

I expected this, but it's still good to read.

So Jackson is one of the most heavily utilized college backs of all time without injury. Then he comes here and can't make it through training camp healthy. it's a curse.

We have newsome...nice find. Every team geta injuries, i would rather it was a 7th rd rookie backup than a starter or major contributor.

This was the right cut. Either him or Facyson. And Jackson does not play ST and probably not much of a kick returner. They can always pick him up again later.

Im not worried about RB. Newsome fits great as the third back. Gordy, Ek and News are a good set that all can catch.

Im more concerned about Bosa getting available Sunday...his foot seems to not be there completely. We really need his presence to take pressure off Ingram to free things up. I want Mahomes eating grass.

And as usual, the Chargers give zero clarity on his injury. I do remember Eric Williams says a couple of weeks ago that watching Bosa on the sidelines of a practice that he was showing a lot of explosiveness. I wonder if he aggravated something. But this is a big loss, even with some depth behind him.

I get the strategy of not announcing the injury until rules require it...its just smart game play in my thinking. Why help your opponent game plan by telling them a weakness? Its all a chess game. Sure we fans want the inside scoop but it is more important for KC to game plan for Bosa all week then have to change plans the last few days for players they have little tape on.

What if Bosa makes a recovery by Sunday and plays?

Sources: Foot injury could cost Chargers' Joey Bosa two to four weeks

Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa, who already has been ruled out of Sunday's season opener versus the Kansas City Chiefs, could miss two to four weeks while trying to recover from the bone bruise in his left foot that the team fears could be a fracture, according to league sources.

The Chargers still are trying to figure out the extent of the injury and how long Bosa will miss, but for now, former seventh-round pick Isaac Rochell -- who has gotten the reps throughout training camp -- will start for Bosa and help try to replace him.

If the bruise is a fracture, Bosa's absence could be longer than the team had thought, as it was expecting him to be ready for Sunday's home game. But now Bosa is in a walking boot, hobbling into the start of the season.
