My hope is that he pulls a KA and leaves his injury past behind. Step in and give us solid seasons back to back to back. That would go a long way in making our D top tier.

KA is truly a marvel
I wonder if he has any insight on how to recover from injuries and stay healthy?
future WR/S&C coach in the NFL?

My favorite player on the team
I hope he can stay healthy because this dude is a difference maker.

That's the perfect scenario. Enough of a history to scare teams from committing to a contract yet doing enough to garner pro-bowl awareness as a Charger. Best yet be healthy for the playoffs. Worse case is he is let go, we get nothing in return, dude plays well and is healthy elsewhere.
That said, what was his injury again? Was it something where he'll never be 100% again? Kid is an elite athlete. Never seems like he's trying too hard to put out 110%. He's always at a steady 100% where even his 80% is better than most of the NFL. An 80% (physical wise) James is still very good. His anticipation and patience is elite.
I just don’t want or whole scheme to depend on him ie have a plan to run a competent defense if he’s not available, regardless of how integral he may be in our scheme.
