This is basically Anthony Lynn all over again; a guy who did well in an interview. Furthermore, the idea the team hired a coach thinking it will "fix the defense" is shortsighted. That is a loser mindset to hiring anyone, not just in football. This was also done, I am willing to bet, because they will be "retaining Steichen and Pep." I'm sure Staley, without the resume, appeased and said what needed to say to get the job. Just classic, classic Spanos. They get what they deserve here. Maybe this will finally be the end of Telesco and then there is some turnover. This team will be back here in 3 years.
To me only Brady or Smith would have been worse hires.
Should have hired Garrett
I have to see his staff - it better be damn good and not Steichen as OC again. At least fire Steichen and promote Pep

Truly and uniquely horrible.
Who is going to be the OC and play caller now?
the impact of a donald and ramsey cant be over stated.
much to be skeptical about but I’ll give it a rest for TPB sake.
most seem happy, I’m subtly petrified.
he better have a top notch plan on how to continue Herbert’s developmentP1. Block Destruction - Ogbonnia
P2. Shocking Effort - Eboigbe
P3. Ball Disruption - Ford
P4. Obnoxious Communication - Henley

Out of the 9 guys they talked to - he was tied for last with Smith and Brady
Limited experience - one year as a DC. I guess at least they went DC and not OC
I hate the hire - I hope he proves me wrong but I hate the hire
The Chargers panicked because they wouldn't talk to Daboll for two weeks. Stupid Spanii

Of all the guys that will be hired, it's looking like none will have actual NFL head coaching experience.
What's the the predictor for being a successful HC?
Anthony Lynn and Mike Tomlin had similar resumes when they were hired. Both had only one season of coordinator experience.
Mike Tomlin has a SB ring and has his team in position to win every season. Anthony Lynn was incompetent in almost every phase of coaching.
It's a giant crapshoot.
